Hi guys
I need a little help I bought a HK MR308 and need help with picking an optic. I was thinking a VORTEX DIAMONDBACK® TACTICAL but I am open to suggestions.

Thanks in advance

Is it in ral 8000? If so get a Schmidt & bender in the matching colour. If not I think 1-8, 2-10, 3-18 scopes are all pretty decent. Just ask yourself how far you're going to shoot out to.

Not to sound like a ass here but why would you put a low end optic like a vortex diamondback on a TOP SHELF rifle like an H&K? Thats like buying motomaster tires for your Lambo!

Lol that’s exactly what I thought.
I currently have a Minox ZP5 on mine, but thinking of switching to a Swarovski Z8i

Perhaps the OP blew his entire budget on the expensive rifle, forgetting that decent optics generally cost as much as the rifle they are mated to....

Steiner P4Xi 1-4? I'm "test driving" a Burris XTR II 1-8 and so far I like it, using my Strelok Pro ballistic app, it's BDC reticle works pretty well IMO. I'm shooting 556 though.

Believe it or not, a good Aimpoint with a 3x magnifier works extremely well at up to 200m.
I prefer this setup over a 1-6x or 3-15x scope at short-medium range.
For longer range, if you can afford it, use a 1-8x or a 3-24x scope like the military use.

Since I can’t afford/justify a $3500-$5000 scope.
I have an Aimpoint with 3x, a very good 1-4x and a very good 3-15x scope.
I find the Aimpoint combo to be a SuperAwesome!

I cant justify a $3000 or more on a scope as stated above I blew my budget on the gun. I do want a good scope I just cannot decide on which one.

Sure makes perfect sense, while RDS and magnifiers are good,if you have an astigmatism like me, they are a "no go". Lots of good options in the 1-4 & 1-8 these days and that's where folks are heading, due to the increased magnification. I think that you can stay in the $800-$1800 and get a excellent product. Keep an eye on the weight? and the "eye box", for an AR you'll need at least an 1.5" mount height. Straight rings should get you out to 600m no problem, depending on the tube dia. Good luck. BTW the Burris XTR II line has come along way, same with the Steiner.

I got a great price on an older viper 1-4 rifle optic which has better glass than diamondbacks, you can find them 400-600$ on EE including expensive cantilever mounts . it depends if you will be using it for matches or bench shooting at longer distances.

You mean the ZP8.
Do you have one?
Im considering that VS the S&B 1-8 dual CC and also the Swarovski z8i 2.3-18. But being unable to see these things in person, i have nothing but stats to go off of.

I haven't been all that impressed by my s&b 1-8. I have a feeling the nightforce 1-8 wouod be better value the minox zp5 is nice but sure how their 1-8 is

I very briefly had a ZP8 to take pictures of so very, very limited look at it (and my knowledge of low power scopes is also very low) so take this with a truck load of salt.

The ZP8 was very nice, good clicks, great glass, good eyebox.

Talk to Tom at GBT - he sells both SB and Minox so maybe he will know more.

Yea, I’ve been in touch with Tom.
The Minox and S&B are very similar from what I read, except S&B has ability to set parallax to 7M while the Minox has it fixed at 200M. Personally I think 200M is pretty high setting for fixed setting for a 1-8 as I thought they are normally in the 100-150 range.
So my concern with the Minox is it’s 0-100M performance.
