P226 or Shadow 2 ??? Help to decide

P226 Stainless Elite can be just as heavy as the Shadow 2, but Shadow 2 has better trigger, shorter reset, better checkering on frame for the grip, bore axis differences are noticeable and will favour the Shadow 2. The only thing I really like about the Sig is that I can close the slide with my main hand without taking it out of position. For the Shadow 2 it's a bit of a reach for me with palm swell grips, with factory aluminum grips I can reach the slide stop but then the grips don't feel as nice.

Balance-wise, P226 will be better with either an aluminum frame or stainless steel frame, Shadow 2 is very muzzle heavy. For a Sig to be easily shot as well as the Shadow 2, you'd have to go to an X-5/6 model, which becomes very expensive.

Shadow 2 is most definitely better value, especially if you are thinking about shooting IPSC. You can get the Shadow 2 Optic ready as well, not sure if P226 has an optic ready model yet.

I agree with buying both. They are not really intended for the same use. The P226 is a base model combat pistol and the Shadow 2 is competition ready out of the box. As much as I like putting holes in paper with the Shadow 2 at the range, it's not the pistol I would reach for in the middle of the night. I don't know why... Maybe it's personal preference or the fact that I've been shooting Sigs longer.

I own a SIG P226 LDC and a heavily modified Shadow 1. It is easier to get a good grip on the Shadow with medium sized hands and it shoots with less effort due to its weight and bore axis (most 226s have alloy frames but the LDC is all steel). The SIG looks cool because you have seen it in so many movies and it has a decocker which is fun for DA first shots. They both can be modified to shoot well with light and smooth DA and SA actions (after market parts but the SIG is way easier to disassemble/assemble if you want to DIY. The Shadow 2 is very good right out of the box and is closer to the SIG X5 tier for range plinking or competition. The SIG P226 is closer to a service weapon for police or military that can be made fun to shoot. If you buy the Shadow 2 first, it will be awhile before you buy anything else. Unless you get into revolvers...

Buy a SIG Sauer X5 Short or 226 LDC and here is the end of line !
As my "personal point of view" I never liked the CZ pistols how it shoot, feel or the ugly looks, period...LOL !
I've owned more then a couple CZ in the last 25+ years, but they never get me where I decide to keep them, sold all and never look back.

I Own both, the 226 was my first ever pistol purchase. But for just plinking the shadow2 feels a lot better, I enjoy target practice with it a lot more. I would buy both eventually but shadow 2 first.
Cheers

I sold a 226 and bought a legion, the trigger is incredible.
I also have a Shadow 2, the action is like glass and the trigger is not terrible at all.

I plan to retire to the States (FU socialism!), and I will carry the 226, couldn't imagine lugging around the shadow as EDC.

I shoot the shadow better under stress (competition), but leisurely plinking I shoot the sig better. It fits the hand better, it's lighter, better balance, but a bit more recoil (well as much as a 9mm has).

So the only solution is to buy both, never vote liberal, and move to the states where lefties cry themselves to sleep on clinton blankets every night.

They are like women red head , blond , brunette , what ever I love them all When it comes to firearms buy as many as you can . When Turdo says no all the more reason to buy both . My buddy has both a he shoots both of them well. If only one my choice cz

I have owned a Shadow, and currently own a Tanfoglio S3 extreme and a Sig 226 Legion.

The biggest thing I like about the Sig is the trigger and the fact that it has a de-cocker. I shoot all year round and using a de-cocker with gloves on in the winter is a hell of a lot easier than trying to manually de-####.

Shadow 2. No question. I've owned several SIGs, and no longer do.... they don't remotely compare. Just my opinion though.

I agree, shadow 2 for sure, no sigs left in my collection either, last one to go was a 220 stainless srt, when the $600 used fnp 45 shot tighter groups than the sig it was time to go, the shadow 2 is probably the 2nd most accurate one in my collection just behind my stock 2 xtreme.

My friend owns both Legion 226 & Shadow 2. I shot both and I prefer the 226, felt better and lighter than the Shadow 2. I was also more accurate with the 226. I do intend to get both to me stable ;)
Now if I can get my hands on a M9A3 to test fire that be amazing.
