You can tell figure out what the primer type is by the date of the ammo. The 1977 and 1979 Hirtenberger cases I purchased are both Berdan primed. I also have a case of 1980 that is Boxer primed. So, if you want Boxer, select accordingly because there is plenty of Berdan still kicking around. Mind you, Berdan brass can theoretically be reloaded but it is not as practical as Boxer...

As you may know Tenda is not the best for responding to questions. I tried calling, and got voicemail telling me the their mailbox is full at this time. That is not encouraging.
x2, there is a bit of a language barrier there with them too
So far I've used Norinco and Winchester 150gr PP. Norinco is dirty and cycled about 90%. The Winchester cycled 100% and shoots very well but pricey at $25/20. OTOH Winchester is good brass so that's a savings compared to non-reloadable brass. I think I'll buy a good quantity of the Winchester loaded ammo, seems to be about the same economics as buying new brass and reloading it from scratch.

Man if hert were still price better I’d pick up more glad I stacked deep last year, kinda sad tho most places seem to be out of hert now and Norinco spam cans really would love another wave of surplus 7.62x51/308 come into Canada again

I've got most of a spam can of Nork... It will not run through my Stag reliably at all.
I've run a mix of Federal ammo through it with good success from the LC M80, AE 150gr, and a variety of hunting loads I had on hand. I had a couple boxes of Remington and Winchester that ran fine but shot like crap, and will be picking up some PMC from my local supplier soonish.

After adjusting things, tightning here and there, and replacing one or two parts under warranty my ammo testing has been off/on as time and weather permits.
These are what I've tested at 100M:
MFS - .308Win SP 140gr - Zinc plated steel case: Did great and very accurate, only have one box left bought in 2011'ish.
Barnaul - .308Win SP 140gr - Zinc plated steel case: No issues but not as accuate as the MFS.
Barnaul - .308Win FMJ 145gr - Lacquered Steel Cased: Don't recall off the top of my head but they cycled just fine or I'd have remembered.
Hirtenberger - .308Win FMJ 146gr - Brass case: Did great and very accurate, my goto for sighting in scopes.
China/Norinco Surplus - .308Win FMJ 147gr Copper wash - Copper Wash Steel: Crazy... one shot dead centre, next shot 1" off. (Wish I could sort the good ones from the bad like you can with .22LR.)
The cases of China/Norinco Surplus I have came from different stores on different sales. This case is almost finished so I hope the next does as well or better.
All above fired well and no issues after tweaking the rifle the first month. Since then I've only put about 500 rounds through it sighting two scopes and having some fun with my son. No FTF/FTE except when I tried a new XCR mag, which FTE and tried to feed the second round. No further issues with the XCR mags after that one mag. Other than the time it takes to change mags or check POI no additional time was spent waiting for the barrel to cool. Some did better with a warm barrel like the China/Norinco while the Hirtz did better with a cold barrel. No opertunity to go beyond 100M yet. Weather was always cold/cool and either damp or rain on/off.
Next outing will be for groups rather than plinking or shighting-in.

What kind of tweaking did you do in the first months?
I'm still having issues with the Norc copper washed surplus. Failure to eject/ Failure to feed
I can verify when I get home, but with my Norinco spam can, it wreaks a nasty smell...
Also, the seating depth of the bullets are never the same from one round to another. (Even visually)
I think the Norinco is hit or miss depending on who / which batch its from.
I only use mine for plinking.
A buddy gave me 20 rounds of his norinco ammo, and his always shot 4 decent, one flyer... (This could be a STAG 10 thing though)
Not as pronounced, but I get the same with my Barnes TTSX 168s.
I should have got more Hirtenberger when they went on sale at Cabelas. Think I am down to 100 rounds or so.
ALSO: Where I got confirmation about the seating depths was when I tried the Norinco in the 308 Savage 110.
Every time I closed the bolt, it required varying amounts of force.
Hirtenberger ALWAYS takes 20% more force than 308 rounds to close the bolt.
Norinco is sometimes easier than 308, sometimes so hard to close it is unsafe.
