Hard to give a better advice. Cz 75 shadow plus 22lr kadet kit.
It is the fastest path to good accuracy in any caliber.
Starting with a big caliber off the bat would make your learning curve longer and may (most likely) create bad habits and seal bad technics into muscle and mental memory.
I hope you take the advice as it is based on experience and training with great coaches from the start

If I were to get into handguns right now, which I'm not - I have too many, I would go with 2, specifically Walther PPQs in 22LR and 9mmNATO.
i find them to be the guns I like the most right now.
I'm also a huge fan of the Jerichos; I own several.
And, in my very personal opinion, going to a bigger calibre than 9mm for your first handgun is plain silly.

100% truth.
I'm not going to get a .22LR, but I'm steering away from .40SW and .45ACP.
I'm about 98% sure I'm going to get a 9mm now. Really like the 92FS I posted earlier in the thread.
I'm taking this advice to heart, and like I said to the gentleman above, 98% sure I'll end up going 9mm... on cost of ammo alone really.
No need to be a ####. I'm listening to everyone who has more experience, and have greatly amended my goals to be more in line with the reality of of purchasing my first pistol. A 9mm is almost certainly going to be my first pistol.
There seems to be lots of great pistols in 9mm, and there's a few that I'm really fond of after watching some videos and doing some research. 92FS at the top, with P226 and CZ 75 close behind. I need to get them in my hands to really determine which one I'd go with.
92 is a solid choice. If going striker, let me recommend a Walter P99 AS. It’s the ‘oldest’ pistol I own and still believe it to be the standard by which all strikers should be measured by. Even Glocks.

Hey, thanks fore the comments. The P99 looks like a great pistol, but it looks like it has a small grip? Hard to tell in pics, but I have large hands. Do you think that'd be a concern?

There a P226..22LR in the EE for around $600. Pick that up, add a 9mm exchange kit for around $300? And you got a registered 22lr that shoots 9mm for $1000
It is a bit small—it is a little shorter top to bottom—but the backstrap is replaceable to add a bit more bulk—it's the black section in my pic below (this is the smaller one).
I don't think you could go wrong with any of the pistols you're looking at—I own or have owned most of them (or variants thereof) and have enjoyed shooting all of them. I've written detailed posts on a number of them—the "About Me" section of my user profile has the links.

ahh, the good ole P99... Debut'd in James Bond's "The world is not enough" IIRC .
