CANSOF IUR Clone thread

Just curious, as to what people are using for a lower, that is also fully ambidextrous, including BCG catch and release from the right hand.
I found a few high-end options out of the Us, Lewis Machine and Tools and Knight’s Armament, howeer, they are not cheap.
Is there an alternative which can available in Canada. I did find that RDSC carries Rainier Arms Lowers which may be what I am looking for.

Eventually mine will have the CC ambi lower. But for the time being i will slum it with a LMT defender 2000 lower - no ambi.

Thanks for the feedback.

Given that the requirement for full ambi lower seems to show up in more and more major contracts, I am assuming it is only a matter of time before Cold Canada (Diemaco) starts building lowers to compete.
Until then, I think I would look at more cost-effective alternatives.

Well, CC does build a somewhat ambi lower. NM has them occasionally. i say "somewhat" because of the lack of an ambi bolt release. The LMT MARS is super ###y, but that much ###y comes with a high price, as does the KAC.

You could buy the hk mr223a3 and sell me the 11inch top. ;)

Those ARTS adapters are sweet, A+ fit and finish on mine really makes the IUR look great! Just curious did anyone tighten them down more then buy hand? The vortex muzzle devices are hand tight but should I be tightening the adapter on more?

No need to over tighten either. The vortex tightens as you shoot it, and as such will tighten the extender at the same time.
I used anti seize on my original one and it never had an issue.

My work in progress clone.

Have mine up and running. The adapter looks very cool, but does hinder accuracy.

Accuracy with Adapter at 50m

Accuracy w/o adapter at 50m

Both were shot with .223 Remington 55gr. Key holes were not present when shooting with the adapter. Admittedly though, i only used .223 55gr for the adapter during this run. Prior use with Norc 5.56 exhibited the same results.

Here is 77gr BH Mk262 Mk1 w/o adapter

Overall, it is a nice package, but a bit heavier feeling than a Mk18 upper.

Thats quite a solid build, how do you like the ARMS sights? I went with the troy option cause I have them on a few other builds and like them for the price. I wonder what about the adaptor make you have the accuracy issues?

Got all the bits to finish my lower yesterday and have it all built up now.

Ran the upper a few times sofar and its slick, but can't wait to try the whole cc unit.
will probably change the magul grip out for a BCM one
