Semi auto in 308 non-restricted

it is true that an M14 that shoots 0.5 MOA will cost you probably around 4-5K$. A milspec Ar-10 that will do the same will cost you around 10k$ and more ( G28, SR-25, etc. ) The army did the math and that's why they did what they did.

I love my m14's, but I have serious doubts any ever shot .5 moa no matter how tricked out they were.

Lol the m14 isn't great because of fabled accuracy.
They're 2 to 3 MOA at best.
I spent a year custom tuning one and even bedded the action with upward pressure on the barrel to balance harmonics on barrel, shimmed, unitized, match 168gr 308 ammo.
2 to 3" groups at 100m with irons was the best it could do.
That was just a fun project though because I like messing with rifles.
2 to 3 MOA with irons consistently is plenty good enough though!
S**t my sks after doing a home trigger job and tech sights can do 5 to 6 MOA with irons and surplus ammo and I ####ing love it! :D
Ill take reliability, simplicity and value for dollar over sub MOA nonsense personally but that's just me.
I take anyones claims of sub MOA accuracy with a semi auto battle rifle with a heavy heavy grain of salt lol no matter how much they have modified it.

Well Travis...

Them simply using a gun with a free floated barrel, an easy to upgrade trigger, match grand ammo and using OPTICS makes it more then POSSIBLE but one that holds a constant 1 MOA is much more likely.

I've had a raging hardon for an AR10A2 standard style stripped down lightweight NR rifle for as long as I've been shooting.
It's close. The ones available now I can sort of build my dream gun. Most kid's would scratch their heads at it I guess.

If the retro brownells BRN 10 get a NR FRT up here I'll be first in line. I'm holding out for it bad.
If my eyes ever go I'll switch to scopes but I love irons and I can shoot them real good.
