I have been wanting a Ruger PCC but in my research I can't figure out what a 9mm out of a 18.5" barrel is capable of. I don't have high expectations, how far out can one hit a propane tank? Not little green ones, the 40lbs BBQ ones.

Everyone is always going on about how accurate it is at 25 or 50 meters. Who cares? A handgun is capable of hitting a propane tank at these distances.

Has any one tried shooting theirs out to 100+ meters? I can't imagine a 9mm will go much more than 150m with out having to aim 2 feet above the target.

I believe that the sights on the artillery Luger were calibrated up to 800m, however 200-300m would seem more reasonable for some sort of accurately placed shot.

Seriously.... wonder why people are screaming gun control....

I've got my holds worked out to 200m for my PCC.

Out to 150m it's pretty straight forward, beyond that it's ridiculously sensitive to wind so hitting the 200m plate really depends on being able to spot your misses or it being dead calm.

Is there really that much difference between shooting a propane tank or steel gong on crown land?

The only people who take issue with crown land shooting is range Nazis. Not everyone enjoys making small groups on square range all day.

People want gun control because they think it will stop city crime. The two are separate.

Thanks this is the sort of answer I was looking for.

I never said the tank was full..... An empty one is just a piece of metal that goes ding. I am not shooting full ones with the intent to make a fire ball. That is too expensive and has a chance of forest fires. Tannerite is safer and cheaper option for blowing stuff up

I hope this helps their only shooting wood and ballistics gel but they go varying distances with a pistol and pcc and max out at 440 yards out of a 16” barrel iron sights.

I have seen this video. Does any one know how much difference our extra 2.5" barrel will make. I can't find a straight answer. Some google findings say it makes a big difference and some say its not enough to mention.

What about these just shows inch by inch your muzzle energy exiting various barrel lengths for 9mm you can pretty much compare how effectively it really is once it exits the barrel.

200m is the furthest ive shot with a PCC, my JR carbine is capable of 2-3 MOA , so technically it should be able to hit a 40lb tank out past 500m. But like Stevo stated, the bullet drop and environmental effects on 9mm get pretty ridiculous past 200m.

Gong are made not to cause ricochet. I guess its just natural selection doing its thing again.

I was getting a 5" group last night at 100 yards, Leupold 2-7x32 scope, caveats being Winchester white box 115gr and pretty windy.

We have a few guys run 9mm PCCs at our TAC rifle matches. Specifically the FX-9 and Beretta CX-4.
They do really well in the CQB stages but suffer in the longer range stuff. Anything past 100m incurs misses when under time pressure. Most of these guys reload their own for pistol but, I believe, use factory for the LR stages. The holdover is ridiculous and a variable optic is a better choice than a RDS, IMO, if you go 9mm.

As Stevo said, very sensitive to wind at distance.
