PAL Wait Time

RPAL Card received!! Yaaaay!!

Mar 15 RCMP received application
April 09 CC charged & "in process" appears online
April 17 License issued
May 9 was told they'd request print within 5 days (after calling many times)
May 13 card printed
May 17 card received!

So not too bad considering all the nonsense going on right now. Basically 2 months all together. I got lucky!!

Damn my license was issued April 17th too. Not even printed yet. Guess I should've called more. Every time I called they would tell me to check back in 4-6 weeks. Lol

Ask them to put a priority on it. I didn't believe the lady when she said that. I thought she was just blowing smoke up my ass but I guess it did actually get moved up!

My CC got charged like 1 week ago I hope My RPAL got issued next week but im in Quebec and I heard that the Quebec CFO makes your application very long to get issued... I hope not, I had never been involved in any crime I pay my taxs every years I guess I will see...
I did served in the Canadian Forces back in the days... but they will probably don’t care

I just discovered that they increased the price for the CRFSC (175.39 $CAD) Jesus Christ haha thats expensive...It might help to reduce the delay to get our RPAL if there less people doing the course

Hey, I live in Alberta. This is my first PAL and RPAL application. I have nothing checked off. It took them 22 days from day of receipt to put my application into the site and get my credit card charged. Hoping for a fast turn around, fingers crossed.

It was beautiful to see: Current Status: Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date.

I feel you haha! Imagine when it will show : "Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued..." :p

Called this morning. I was approved on April 4th, and my card still was not printed. It seems it’s random, as some people from here and reddit have mentioned being accepted between April 1-5 and have their cards already. Heck one person was approved on April 15, called and already have his/her card in hand.

Basically, I recommend not to wait and make a call, until they offer to bump you up to the priority “5 business days” queue. Even then, you’ll wait 5 business days, plus mail time, so another 2 weeks...

I was approved May 3. I was put on the priority list. They said it was printed last Tuesday. Checked today and still nothing in my mailbox.

I found this in an earlier post
Interesting!

Here is some info on why some applications go through faster than others

Some back ground info that was found on the government privacy website: https://www.priv.gc.ca/en/opc-actions-and-decisions/audits/fr_010813/#archived

Only the Chief Firearms Officer (CFO) in each province/territory and the delegated Firearms Officers (FOs) have the authority to refuse or revoke licences. The screening process can have as many as three stages, if required:
"
Primary screening of applicants, based on the information provided on the application form, is done by staff members at the Central Processing Site (CPS) in Miramichi, NB and at the Québec Processing Site (QPS) in Montréal. After it has been determined that the application is complete and the data has been entered into the Canadian Firearms Registration System (CFRS), batch Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) background checks including FIP are conducted electronically with the assistance of the RCMP Accreditation Unit. At the QPS, the Sûreté du Québec assumes this duty. FOs at the CPS can approve totally "clean" applications - that is, information requirements have been met and there are no hits on CPIC or FIP. (Note: Our review did not cover the specific processing activities at the QPS.)
Secondary screening, if required, which involves a closer look at regional automated police information retrieval databases and telephone follow-up with spouses (desk work) is done by CFOs and their delegates (FOs and support staff).
Tertiary screening, if required, conducted by Area and Local Firearms Officers is a more in-depth field investigation that can involve interviews with employers, aboriginal leaders, neighbours, etc.
"

Please look at the actual web page. It also gives detailed info on the so-called daily background check of PAL holders. So no, nobody is looking over your shoulder. Your PAL is a a licence just like a drivers licence or a pilots licence.
