9 mm brass worth anything these days?

Sure, if you own a 9mm and reload.
Check out what a new lot of brass is worth from a retailer and divide by half and there is a good starting point for value.
To sell it and make money, not so much.
But, you can do someone a favor who is new to 9mm reloading and help them get set up?

Clean brass is $2.00 a lb.

In my experience just take to the scrap metal place.

Spent a couple months trying to sell a bunch for reloading and for the hassle of sorting and posting ads and meeting up with people l couldn't sell for more than the scrap yard pays.

Pick out the steel and aluminum and any loaded rounds to keep the yard happy.

If it doesn't have crimped primers then about $0.03 a piece.

9mm is about 113 pieces/lb so if the scrapyard is paying $2/lb then you get 1.76 cents a piece.
Just call your local scrap yard and see what the current price is. I'm sure a local gunnut is willing to match this so no trip to the scrap yard needed.
Hope this helps.

I find lots of 9mm and 223 brass, especially if the police have been training. I tend to keep the harder to find calibers. I picked up like 3 pails over the last fews months and took them into the scrap yard last week, It was like 140 lbs and they handed me $276 cash.

I have a 5 gallon pail of 9mm brass.
Over 90% would be from range pick up from rcmp shoots. Therefore 1x and decent quality.

Is it worth anything for reloading?
A full 5 gallon pail would have 8000-9000 cases in it or about 70-80 pounds of brass. if it's clean a scrap yard will give you $2/lb. so it's worth about $140-160 bucks. Worth the trip. Clean, once fired brass will get you about $30-35 from reloaders but unless you can sell it locally it's not worth the effort with packing & shipping. Our club tried selling once fired nickel 9mm cases that we get from CBSA which trains at our range. Very good brass but we just couldn't sell enough locally to keep up with supply so we sold off 1200 pounds to a commercial recycler/reloader. Didn't make as much money but he took it all at once.

9 mm can be found in any brass pail at any range. It is, after 22lr, the most common brass. The only person who will buy some is the guy who will not bother going through the throw aways at the range. As many people pointed out, not worth shipping. 38 Sp. and
45 ACP are close seconds in the worthless category.
OTOH, 44 S&W Sp. and 44 Rem Mag are worth something!
