PAL Wait Time

License issued on April 3rd. Received license in the mail last night. Overall 127 days from the date my application was received in Miramichi. One last weekend for Turkey!

They approved mine on April 8th. I’m in my 8th week of waiting for this printer delay. Called Tuesday, was told it would be printed in 5 days. Then another 2-# weeks to get it. Called back tonight. Hasn’t been printed yet, but should be mid next week. Then mail. I’m thinking this is going to take 10 weeks from approval. I started this journey back in November. So I’m at 7.5 months to obtain a firearm. I’d say our firearm control is pretty stiff in Canada.

Finally got my card. Final timeline is:

Application sent in mail Jan 14
Application Received Jan 18
License Issued April 2
License arrived in mail May 24.

A lot of people passed me in the process, so I called probably half a dozen times during those months, was always polite. I'm confident if I hadn't called to nudge things along I'd still be waiting. So in total 130 days since I mailed it. That was very frustrating, luckily we only have to deal with them once every 5 years.

Checked online this morning and I am approved!
In Ontario
Mailed in my application Apr 3.
RCMP received it Apr 9.
Showed up online May 3.
Approved May 16.

I called in this morning to see if I could get my pal # and an update on which day they are on in the printing cycle. No word on the cycle day but she said she would send a manual request to print in the next week but that's what they seem to be telling everyone now so we will see. Only 37 days to approval.
Cheers.

Quick update, card actually arrived in the mail today.
Looks like she wasn't just brushing me off!
41 days from mailing the application to receiving my card.

Good luck everyone.

I don't understand why the application process timeline is so random from one person to the other... There's seems to be no uniformity

From a guy that’s called 3 times since his card was “mailed out” 8 weeks ago, couldn’t have been nicer on the phone, and has yet to received his card... it’s a little disheartening. Hearing about guys getting them in a matter of a few weeks who were approved 5 weeks after me, stings a little.

Update:
April 5: PAL application recieved by Rcmp
April 29: Rcmp charges my CC
May 9th: No website changes or updates as yet
May 10th: Called rcmp, got name fixed
May 13th: Application online, license issued
May 24th: License arrived in the mail

Ontario PAL, no boxes checked

Sent my application registered mail on May 20. According to tracking it is supposed to arrive Monday may 27. I will post again in the future about how the process goes.

Call Monday and say you spoke to someone a week ago and they said your licence would be printed within the next 5 days. And ask if it was indeed printed.
I did that and it was in the mail the following day

ALBERTA
May 11= CFSC
May 13= mailed

Now to stand for hours in front of the rifles at the gun shop and dream and drool :xes

You're lucky that Alberta doesn't mail you the test results to include with the application like Ontario does. It adds 2 weeks for no reason.

Yes, i could have mailed the application as soon as finished the course as i already had everything else i needed; forms filled up and signed, photo taken and signed...

PAL to RPAL and I’m on day 76 of reading this:

«#Application Received on: 2019-03-12

Current Status: Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date.#»

Well today is the day!
Application mailed February 18nd
Application received February 22nd
I don't remember the exact day my credit card was charged but it was roughly 30 days after they received.
April 17th website reads license issued call in 2 weeks if haven't received.
May 1st I called and they told me they are having delays due to a printer to try calling back in 4-6 weeks.
May 16th called again explaining that my license has been "issued" for a month now. They said they would make it priority and print in the next couple days.
May 22nd I call and they say it was printed on May17th the day after I called last time.
May 27th License arrives in mail.
I did manage to buy a shotgun and rifle with just my number and finally got to go out and blast 25 through the shotgun tonight. Range day with the rifle tomorrow.
What a horrible process I wish everyone the best of luck.
Keep calling, be polite. It helps!

I called yesterday. I'm at 8 weeks since my licence was issued. I called last Tuesday, told it would be printed within 5 days. Called last night (5 days). Still not printed. She said keep calling each day. This is brutal. Even if it was printed today (which I'm hoping for) I won't have the card for another week +. I'm a pretty chill guy, but this process is literally driving me out of my mind.

You may want to get use to randomness, once you start buying restricted goodies the CFO wait times range from almost acceptable, to bad, to worse to terrible. The only constant is you will never stop spending money....but always good times
