The Freedom Ordnance FX-9 OWNERS thread.

Just changed out all my 10rd glock mag springs to Wolff 10%+. Bolt now reliably holds open on last round. I too have had to change the original buffer and spring. Going to be a busy summer shooting Classic and PCC. Lots of 9mm reloading.

I would hold off on "upgrades" until you have 300+ rounds through your rifle.
Mine started out having the occasional failure but has been good since passing 200 rounds.
Changing the spring and buffer did not solve the issue and after doing the bolt mod (early rifle) things have been better. This could have also been coincidence as I waited till I had 200 rounds through it before doing it.
I'm now somewhere around 400 rounds through it and haven't had a failure during the last 200 rounds.

Give it a little time to loosen up before getting worried about things and spending money and time fixing something that isn't actually broken.
I'm tempted to throw the original buffer and spring back in just to see if there is any difference in reliability now that it has a few hundred rounds through it.

Anyone else have the roll pin in the buffer start to migrate out? I’ve had to knock mine back in a couple of times

In light of C71 and the need to acquire more firearms before it becomes very difficult or requires registration, what is the overall consensus on this firearm?
Is the FX-9 a reliable firearm that you would feel confident about digging up in an emergency or when your grandchildren finally unban boom-sticks?

Pushed mine back with a thumb...need a new buffer :)

Also - check your handguards....they are not straight with the receiver....put a long ruler (long enough to touch rear of the receiver and the front of the handguard) on the top and see if there is a gap :) I have a gap of about 2mm...
In the other words, - the handguard starts to nose up as soon as the first set screw is tighten up :)

The FX-9 is a decent firearm but if you're looking for an emergency SHTF/WROL firearm to trust your life to I wouldn't be looking at $1000 semi's.
As for burying it for the future, I can think of a lot of other rifles I'd rather have in the future.

Don't get me wrong, I really do like my FX-9 but it's just an entry level rifle I bought for bashing around. I have other NR rifles that I would be using if it was ever a time to trust my life and the lives of my loved ones to.

Just buy whatever you want and don't worry about what the libtards are doing. By the time Captain talks a lot of Schit gets around to actually doing something he'll hopefully be voted out and thrown in jail for treason.

Thanks. I'm interested to hear more but I don't want to derail this thread so I'll start a new one.

Id not think twice about buying one again. No regrets, mine runs smooth. ctually hoping there's a 10mm version down the road.

I don't regret my purchase but if it was my one and only rifle that I was going to put away till an emergency or some other weird reason the FX-9 would not be my first choice (or my second).

10mm would require an entirely new lower but it sure would be nice to have one to go with my Glock 10mm.
I wouldn't hold your breath waiting though.

Don't worry, this is an owners thread, anything FX-9 is ok as far as I'm concerned. I'm hoping it get's made a sticky soon.

Time for another sticky mods, 28 pages worth of posts with no bickering has earned it a place up top :d

Use the 1/2-28 one ... it is what the barrel of the FX-9 is threaded at. The fact it is printed 5.56 for other 1/2-28 threaded rifles really messes people up when you actually fire it.
