need info on military 9mm ammo

In the UK we used to used 2Z 9mm in Sterlings and HI Powers, then they started issuing "pistol ammo" for the HP's, so it was a concern. I was repeatedly warned never to use the 2Z in my alloy frame S&W 6906.
So I wouldn't use Sterling loads in anything that wasn't solidly built.
I'm sure there is a firearm safety rule about not using loads much hotter than the manufacturer's spec, but your gun, your hands/eyeballs.
NATO spec doesn't mean safe in any pistol.

I shot one box of the IMI ammo yesterday…it seemed very dirty.

But it didn’t seem THAT hot; I also had two boxes of (2 diff) reloads and they all had about the same recoil. Is that stuff really 1270fps /124gr

Btw one round of the IVI ammo I got is blank (one long solid case crimped in at the end) what’s the porpoise of it in the military (it won't cycle the slide right?). It's marked IVI 77, I haven't shot it yet...

The blank is for the Sterling SMG, put a BFA on it and use the blanks and you're good to go. Out of the pistol they make a pretty flame but that's it, it will not cycle

B.F.A. Blank Firing Attachment. Basically a plug that goes in the barrel of a semi or full auto weapon that helps capture the propelent gas to allow the action to cycle.

IAW CFTO (Canadian Forces Technical Orders) C-74-305-PAO/TA-000 (1988-08-31) Cartridge 9mm All Types, Cartridge 9mm Ball Cdn, Mk1 has a 115 grain bullet and is designed for use in the pistol, 9mm, Browning No.2 Mk1 & the sub machine gun, 9mm C1. Muzzle Velocity out of the pistol is 1,200 ft/se (365 meters/sec) and the SMG is 1,340 ft/sec(409 meters/sec). The following types of Propellant is used SR 4898 (Dupont), CMR 200 (CIL Valleyfield) and GBSe-S8 (SNPE France). But I remember doing receipt inspections during the '80's where the manufacturers data card specified , UNIQUE. The average chamber pressure of sample cartridges shall not exceed 42,000 pounds. The muzzle energy shall not exceed 600 foot pounds. Inch, I have issued Federal ammo to the meatheads only prior to retirement. Thus ends the BS!
