Thank you! The adrenaline was certainly running when I took the shot. He was standing stationary and broadside for me for a grand total of 5 seconds right at the thick bush line. In a blink of an eye he would have disappeared into heavy cover.

I shot this fellow last Friday night over a bait. I had watched a small one for about a half hour and then this boar came in and ran off the little one. I watched this one for about 40 minutes. My hunting buddy was hunting a few kilometers away on his bait and had left his girlfriend and her daughter at his camp. The daughter had said that if we shot one she wanted to come and help field dress it and drag it out of the bush. She was only 12 years old and I thought that with her interest in hunting, I had better take the shot. One 400 grain Speer Hot Cor out of my 45-70 dropped him right in his tracks. No kicking. No death moan. Straight to bear heaven.
I texted my friend who went and picked her up at camp and met me at my boat. We took some photos and I showed her how to field dress a bear. She got right into it and helped hold open the cavity while I worked away at removing the entrails. It didn't bother her at all. We then rolled the bear into a black ice fishing sleigh and she and my friend both dragged it through the bush and back out to the boat. We hung the bear up at camp and skinned it out right away. She stayed up until about 1:15AM helping us with the skinning. This was far from my biggest bear and not really what I was after but sharing the experience with this young lady was worth it and I'm glad I decided to take it.

Here is one of my favorite deer pics. No where near the biggest deer I have shot, but I do love the pic. Shot this buck from a canoe at about 40-50 yards in November 2017. Georgian Bay area. Paddled around a bend late afternoon and there he was 5 yards from shore. I expect he had come out for a drink after bedding down during the day.

Awesome picture! I know that area, gorgeous place to hunt. That must of been a bit of a process loading the buck into the canoe!

Up until a couple weeks ago , I had only seen a fawn being born on tv or internet.
We get a lot of deer passing through and one particular doe was hanging around all that week, sleeping in my yard every night.
I was out of town for a couple days but when I got home my wife was acting weird and making me be quiet before I even got to the front door.
She led me around the house on the deck and she got me to peek over the railing at the back of the house. So there between the house and my boat is this same doe with 1/2 a fawn hanging out of her.
We went back in the house and left them be as it was getting dark by that point.
Next morning I crept outside and was fortunate that they were still around. Not sure how a little deer like that gets over my fences but they vanished sometime that day.

My season started, and ended pretty quickly. I hiked into the backcountry July 31st with 5 days of food and tags for sheep and caribou. On the way in I saw some sublegal rams and some caribou. After enjoying watching these animals through my spotter, I set up camp as this area had potential.
August 1st rolls around and I quickly pack up camp and have breakfast with the idea of getting a bit further back in search of some more sheep and possibly caribou. At 9am I was climbing a ridge when I noticed a few lumps moving up the pass. Caribou had wandered within 400 yards of where I was. Fortunately the wind was in my favour, and they couldn't figure out what I was. The group kept spooking away and then moving closer to get a better look at this strange, two-legged creature on the hillside. Once they reached 250yds, I picked the larger bull in the group and let an 8mm, 196gn Norma Vulkan from my Husqvarna 1600 do the rest.
My first Caribou, and I am pretty happy with it. Packing it out by myself when I am 6k+ from my truck made for a very long and exhausting day. Tastes that much better because of the effort. My freezer is full again! Best of luck to everyone else who will be hunting this fall.

Great shooting. Shooting a bull caribou is one of my upcoming dream hunts. Love the fact you used a true classic of a rifle and cartridge. Im planning on using the same cartridge with 200gr nosler accubonds in a CZ550 or Tikka T3 SS.
Just came back from a 2 day solo hunt in central BC. Sighted was 49 deer, 9 of which were bucks. Two four point bucks were spotted but unable to connect. Got myself this guy. Only whitetail seen and just happened to be a buck! Lucky me I always carry a whitetail tag just in case. A little 5x4.
4 points usually don't get to be 4 pointers hanging out on the roadsFound this bunch yesterday.

2019 Moose. Taken by me and my 13 yr old son on Sept 24. Shot with a Ruger MK II .300 WinMag; 180 gr Accubond.
Called him in. He was coming around to wind us, so we paddled straight at him to about 100 yds to get a shot.
He was the second bull we called in; the first was too far and wouldn't commit.

This is my first northern sask bush moose. After 5 years of unfilled tags in the bush it felt really good to finally cut a tag. We saw quite a few moose and this is the first one that gave me a shot. Also got quite a few ruffed grouse on this trip as well. Used the 7mm08.
