Honest thoughts 22-250 vs 6.5 creedmoor on yotes

i run a 204 Ruger on Coyotes - light and fast is how i like them - perfected two loads for them in 32 and 39 grain. As for wind drift lets say your getting some good training in if you also shoot competition.

I looked at the 204 for a while but the application range was too small for my liking. Would to be more advantageous to run a 6.5 Grendel or load some creedmoor up with light bullet for predator control?

You probably don’t live 15 minutes from sheep hunting either. Cheap toilet paper, Big Macs, sheep hunting, no PST, and 6.5 CM on the shelves. Life is just not fair.

I'm quite happy where I am, even without Walmart, sheep and Creedmoor. I don't need any of them.

As for PST, our cost of living is still well below that of living in AB.

I don't know why any one would advocate taking a $150 coyote hide and turning it into a $100 hide by shooting it with a bullet larger than a 22 cal. Most times a fur grader will find an exit hole and the pelt will de sold as slightly damaged costing you $s. I prefer no exits at all and no bullets that will splash on entry either. I have skinned a pile of coyotes over the last 40+ yrs and so far I have not found a bullet larger than 22 cal that would be my go to bullet. Coyotes are not a hard animal to kill, all you have to do is put a bullet in the proper spot. If you miss the sweet spot they are extremely tough and can run a long ways before dying even when using a larger caliber.
I do not even bother taking my 22-250s out of the safe for coyote hunting anymore. When hunting for fur I mostly use a 204R which works excellent for me or if just doing pest control and fur is not a issue I use the 6mm or 25 cal options in the safe.

This is what hunting means to most on the internet however we have to remember, to be fair. YouTube and specs, only a core group actually are hunting a lot the rest watch and rehash the splashiest parts. We all know the honest answer is either works for the amateur / recreational varmint hunter (not taking them to market), and that .22-250 is going to make it a bit easier. The guys doing it to supplement a living aren’t using either of these. We also all know there aren’t many people in this thread who can dope wind and dial in a 6.5 on a 600+ yard coyote reliably. That’s not to say there aren’t steady enough shooters just few are working their rifle enough to know the exact table. So if you want to just go hunting get a .223 and forget the rest of the argument.
