Honest thoughts 22-250 vs 6.5 creedmoor on yotes

I never shot anything with those yet, but worked up a load to those velocities, I can confirm the accuracy is outstanding at 200m which is as far as I've played with them.

Ever use any of the light frangible pills? I always wondered how they would work on small stuff.

The 55gr BT’s are light and frangible.

This. My 257 Wby with 85 gr Nosler BT @3800 fps is 1.5" high at 100 yds, zeroed @250 and 2.5" low at 400 yds. No messing with ranging or turrets. Most people can't consistently hit a coyote further than that anyhow, regardless of what you're shooting.

Think there’s a typo, that’d put you right around 2 1/2” low at 300, 10 and change low at 400. Still mighty user friendly.

Might want to check your ballistics again. Maybe your thinking 300?

That bullet is going to drop like a rock at any substantial distance.

I’m getting 15” drop @3825. What BC are you using?

Same, .329 G1. Compare that to just about anything else, 6.5CM with a 140 AMAX has dropped 2’3” when the .257 Roy has dropped 1’3”. At 1000 yards? The Weatherby and its pitiful .329BC has arrived 5 1/2 feet flatter than the 6.5 Creed with the .585 G1 Amax. The .257 Bee is about the flattest shooting (least drop) thing you’re going to find on a store shelf.

:)

I have had a 22-250 for 10 years that I have used on yotes really love the caliber but end of the day it's all about shot placement and not hitting any bones with almost any caliber if U hit bone u will have fur damage and I don't like to stitch at all . I have never had a 6.5 but people really like them what I have heard what I really like about the 22-250 every store around my area sells those rounds and I find they t really nice round to reload

Barnes also makes an 80 gr TTSX for the 257. I've chrono'd just over 3900 for that one with RL22 in a 26" barrel, and it holds together better than the Ballistic Tip, as expected.
But none of these figures matter to those enthralled by high BC bullets, turrets and rangefinders.

257 Wby would deflect 35% more than the Creedmoor in the wind, so I think you'd hit more coyotes at distance with the new king

Maybe it's the ideal caliber then for those living in Pincher Creek or Wyoming. As for the rest of us, we don't generally have a strong enough wind that's worth worrying about.
Yep.
The coyote hunting that I do is calling them in the bitter cold. And calling in the wind is a waste of time. If you've got them to come to 500 yrds, chances are they'll keep coming to under 200.

257 WBY? I thought it was important that hunters use cartridges available at Walmart

Laugh2

Meh both are niche, .257 Wby is going to beat the 6.5 CM as a mountain hunting cartridge, or coyote cartridge as per the thread. I don’t own either and respect both for what they do, I’ve had both show up at the outfit in equal numbers (one).
