Ok, this is the third time ive been in the local gun shop and they will not give me the info i want. They have a cabinet where they keep the prohib's and have a collection of various Iver Johnsons, Smith and Wesson's and Harrington and Richardson's top break 32 revolvers (safety hammer and safety hammerless models). Im told they are all prohibited. When i start talking about antique status they turn and walk away like im trying to pull a fast one on them. Today i asked the lady if any of them were 32 rimfire...she finally said yes some are. I asked for s/n so i can check date of manufacture for antique status and she walked away again. Now i know that almost 0 smith and wesson top breaks were made in 32RF but the first and second model Iver Johnsons were 32RF and the first models made before 1898...and i know that almost all of the Harrington and Richardsons were 32RF and made prior to 1898.
What really drives me nuts is that they wont even open the cabinet to read a serial number or a patent date or anything. I would love to pic one of these up but alas i cant get no respect.
Maybe another fellow CGN'er would have better luck.
