Ballistic Plates Incoming

Why are we being asked to send a photo of our PAL to provide proof we're able to buy body armour, wouldn't just the PAL number be suficient?

Alberta regulations: Body Armour Control Act We require to provide us with 2 pieces of ID, in order to release body armours to buyers from AB.
You may possess body armour without a permit if you hold a valid firearms licence issued under the Firearms Act (Canada).

Ontario, Nova Scotia and Quebec: Possession of body armor is 100% legal, there is no regulations restricting possession of any kind of body armor. All 3 provinces has passed the legislation but is not yet in force. Further, in Nova Scotia, Bill C-349 in the House of Commons, proposes to create a civic regulation for wearing body armor; this bill reached First Reading but never became law, and has died on the order paper.

Here in Ontario we are free to buy and sell body armors without a special license. However we do require you to provide us with 2 pieces of Identification to comply with local rules and regulations. We strongly encourage you to check with local rules and regulations of your State, Province or Country before you place an order. Your order will be shipped promptly, but to possess it, you must comply with your local rules and regulations, therefore it is always good to check with your local authorities before making a purchase.

Just my.02, I don't work for A.I.T.

Yes in Alberta if you have a valid PAL you can buy body armour, hence i asked why is the number not suficient. Not even when i purchased rifles i wasn't asked to send in a picture of my PAL, and i do not intend to. It's not hard for them to call the firearms program and confirm that the buyer is allowed to purchase something and that the PAL is valid. I emailed AITacticalSolutions and will wait for a answer from them, as i believe the number should be suficient.

The PAL # is actually sufficient to determine a buyers eligibility.

You dont even need photos for buying guns, the # along with shipping address is all that is needed to legally verify a user holds a valid PAL, and plenty of other commercial sellers of ballistic armour just require the pal #/address.

Having that many photos of people's PAL's is just begging for an information breach incident and is over reach.

If this was not the case, the RCMP would also ask for the Photo of your PAL while doing restricted transfers, but they do not, as the address + PAL # is sufficient to prove someone holds a valid PAL

The number is sufficient. We just put photo on the email because it makes our lives a lot easier. If you don’t feel comfortable sending a photo just send us the info it’s not a problem. We also do understand the unease about that data being on the cloud, therefore what we do is we print out proof that we have received your documentation and then we delete your email and ID info from our servers. This leaves the only copy of your information as a piece of paper in our office safe. We believe this to be the safest way to prevent any significant data breach incidents.

Just a question to you guys. We are currently working on soft armor and we are curious if you would be interested in an incredibly low profile IIA "vest"/almost undershirt which would retail for around 125-140CAD. It would have front back and side protection built in. We can also do IIIA but it would cost around 20% more.

I think I speak for most (I hope!!!) that IIIA is both much more wanted and will sell much better then IIA...it just covers so much more!!! Even at a 20% more.

If it has some stab resistance too, or the ability to easily and cheaply add some anti stab plates...would be great too!!!

We will definitely proceed with both. Also we have noted with the fabric we have received that at both level 2a and 3a it is slash proof as well as being quite stab resistant (I couldn't puncture it with an icepick grip with the knife pictured below). We would of course have to get it tested but I personally have great confidence in the vest functioning quite well as a stab vest.
