CBSA holding a package

They have been doing that since the start of the month already, at least they got a hold of you. I waited 10 days for anything to happen and then just got a notice that my package was being sent to me, no communication, no reason or anything, just a happy 10 day plus wait.

So I got a letter from CBSA regarding my latest Brownells order. They are holding it because the package contains an AR-15 magazine catch spring and a buffer tube assembly. I have to send them a copy of my RPAL in order for the package to be released. WTF?

Although these may be uncontrolled parts, and anyone and their mom can order them from Brownells, every inventoried part is usually marked as "available outside USA", etc. So if this was flagged, it should just be a customs thing.

But for the CBSA to ask for your RPAL? **in Nazi accent** paperz! paperz!

It's probably some new guy, you could send your RPAL or you could send an explanation it's not for a restricted firearm and challenge it.

You'll likely end up winning but it'll probably take a few extra months; so it's up to you...

I just received an unopened package from Numrich today. Had one magazine and several other bits and bobs for a 12(6) handgun. Invoice shows it shipped June 11th.

Auggie D.

I already sent them a copy of my RPAL. But it shouldn't matter if it's a part for a restricted or non-restricted firearm. The parts themselves are not regulated in any way in Canada. A child would be allowed to walk into a store and buy these parts. So why are they wasting taxpayer dollars with this BS?

who gives CBSA the authority to collect firearms license information? I would promptly file a written complaint to that entity if this just over non regulated parts.

For the first time in years, and lots of purchases from Brownells, I had a trigger held for 6 days and was charged taxes and a exorbitant handling fee. Package was not opened and had the usual complete customs declaration from Brownells on the outside of the package.

I had a BCG and some trigger springs arrive last week with no issues/hold ups etc...

It was actually the first Brownells order of mine in a while that the CBSA didn't ding me the taxes/fees on. According to tracking it was in and out of customs the same day.

I think it just depends on their mood in the moment as there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason.

I had an order for $312.15 made on June 17, 2019 and received on June 21, 2019

Package was OPENED and stayed 16 minutes ONLY in customs.

Got ripped off with 76$ import duties/taxes...... most DANGEROUS part was a brownells 308 bcg lol

Lucky. About 5 of my last orders, all but one got dinged.

I have a trigger guard for a Savage MKII in limbo since June 4th........no tracking info since it was released from US Customs. I'm assuming CBSA is deciding what to do with it.

so what happened? You sent in the stuff they asked and then they released?

I currently have a package sitting there from brownells too.

Bah CBSA holds all sorts of things.
Like oshkosh dresses for my 3 year old daughter bought from Amazon.
Who knows their reasons...

Wow! Thank goodness for these hero's. They are saving us from evil.

This is them

Mine tend to come through but I'm clearly on a "list"....Every package (which are generally firearm related) gets inspected, never opened, and they'll charge me an average of $5 duty (tax) plus a $10 charge for charging the $5 tax.....
