I've become a huge revolver fan as of late, essentially changing my focus from practically autos only to intensively revolver oriented.

What struck me though, and always what I viewed as a major drawback of revolvers, was their high bore axis, or so I thought. Especially something like a Smith & Wesson N frame I reasoned, just by common sense seemed it must have a ridiculously high bore axis. Even though I had a decent amount of experience in both shooting and ownership of N frames and the like, it wasn't until I was cleaning one of the 1911's and the 627 side by side did I realize, to my surprise, the bore axis is the same. Gripped properly, your hand is no higher on the grip relative to the bore on the 627 than on the 1911. There is a large difference between an N frame and say a Glock of P7, but relative to SIG's, Beretta's, 1911's, and HP's it fairs quite well. Just found this neat.

hmmmm, now I have to go look at mine. Where is the breech face on each in relation to the hand, as that will influence the amount of leverage the recoil has to act against your hand......?

Firing pin indicates the center of the in battery cartridge, hence having both guns cocked to show the relative firing pin locations. :)

Well, it really isn't about that at all, is it?

You just wanted to show off your two really cool stainless guns... :p

I'd say "Busted!" but in truth I really was surprised by this.

And with a high grip like Miculek uses the bore axis sits even lower ...if that grip works that is, some love it and some hate it.
Cheers

thats very interesting. thanks for sharing this.
gorgeous guns btw.
I must say the whole stainless thing never appealed to me early in life but i really like (most) now.
