I've become a huge revolver fan as of late, essentially changing my focus from practically autos only to intensively revolver oriented.
What struck me though, and always what I viewed as a major drawback of revolvers, was their high bore axis, or so I thought. Especially something like a Smith & Wesson N frame I reasoned, just by common sense seemed it must have a ridiculously high bore axis. Even though I had a decent amount of experience in both shooting and ownership of N frames and the like, it wasn't until I was cleaning one of the 1911's and the 627 side by side did I realize, to my surprise, the bore axis is the same. Gripped properly, your hand is no higher on the grip relative to the bore on the 627 than on the 1911. There is a large difference between an N frame and say a Glock of P7, but relative to SIG's, Beretta's, 1911's, and HP's it fairs quite well. Just found this neat.
