Our local Canadian Tire flyer [sale ending May 30] was advertising a Burris mfg scope 3-9x40mm on sale [reg $179.99 on for $139.99]. Cdn Tire item #175-9532-4.

I went & looked at one. Has the Burris "ballistic plex" reticle. Matte blue finish. Seemed pretty nice for a lower end price scope.

Noticed that this scope is badged as the "Prevail" model. It's on the box end as well as printed on the scope itself. On the box end it says it's item #200092. I checked the Burris website on-line & they don't list the "Prevail" anywhere there.

Closest thing on the Burris website is the "Droptine" model. The Droptine 3-9x40mm scopes are item #'s 200018 & 200019 depending on whether the scope is for the .22lr or centerfire. Same over all look & specs. However, the turret knobs & power adjustment ring are slightly different between the Droptine model on the website & this "Prevail" model that Cdn Tire is selling.

I posted a question on the Burris website & got an email confirmation that they'd received it but so far no answers from them about it.

Maybe a special run scope for Canada sale only? Thoughts?

Anyone running one of these "Prevail" scopes on their rifle? Feedback?

Well, despite posting my question twice on the Burris website asking about this "Prevail" model scope, they moderated the question so it never appeared. And they never answered either there or in a return email which they request when you post a question there. Pretty disappointing, as it was just a question. All they had to do is confirm it was a model for foreign sales or to that effect.

And it would appear no one here has any info on it either. So, will remain a mystery. ;)

i would call there customer service line, it would put someone on the spot and would have to give you an answer of somesort.. i know its not the nicest thing to do but getting an answer is about customer service whether its good or bad, also have me curios.

I was on the Burris website today; representative confirmed Prevail scope is a canadian tire exclusive, droptine model.

Interesting.... so I just went & checked the Burris website & the question was answered by them:

The Prevail is a Canadian Tire exclusive Burris scope. The specs would be in line with the Droptine series of scopes.

Guess there was a delay in them getting to it. But they did eventually, I see.

Edit.... my local Cdn Tire is actually selling the Burris 'Droptine' model now, too. The .22 lr version 3-9x40mm with ballistic plex reticle is $274.99, even considerably more than what the Prevail version was retail before the sale.

I just picked one up at my local ctc for my ruger american ranch in 7.62x39. I also looked at the redfield 2-7 and the leupold vx freedom 3-9 they had on hand , the leupold seemed a little brighter at full power, but the burris has better feeling adjustments. seems like a good scope for the money.

I'd be interested in a 'range report' on this scope in use when you get a chance.

I mounted it up last week but haven't made it to the outdoor range yet. Anything in particular your curious about?

Had it out to the range, its on an ruger american ranch 7.62x39. I have to say I really like the scope, very crisp and clear, I could actually see my shots on paper at 100 yards on 9x. The adjustments were crisp and positive. I only shot at 25 and 100 yds about 100rnds through it so far.
