Has the SKS become the Canadian shooter's equivalent of the Ford 150?

They're cheap.
That's the bottom line.

You can convince yourself you have an awsome rifle, but you bought it 'cause it was cheap.

I can gas up my F150 twice for what an sks costs... That's pretty cheap.

1 out of two right ain’t bad, they are awesome and cheap. Ain’t nothing better for a day of dirt shooting than an sks.

As to gassing up twice for the same price, for the money I’d say I’m getting more value out of my sks than your getting for two tanks of gas lol.

The sks is the perfect rifle
It wins for a shtf senerio
Ammo is cheap and easy to find
You can leave it as is or customize to how you want it
It’s extremely well made
What’s not to like about it?

If you can use it the way it was designed, it's a very decent rifle.
All the aftermarket garbage makes it less reliable and less useable.

Wow, lot of Ford haters here...
Keep it up!
(I have a Tundra)

Better a Toyota Tundra with broken ball joints than a Nissan Titan with a fried rear differential. Amirite? ;-)

SKS was my first gun and I still have it (although I largely stopped shooting it since building an AR15.) $200 shipped taxes in and it killed a whitetail doe with no fuss. My second gun was a 12.5" Dominion Arms Grizzly (870 clone). It was not quite as good at deer hunting... Haha.

It seems that the lowly SKS has a lot of haters but why does everyone have one then? I have 2 and think they are great fun rifles, and even though I have much nicer more modern firearms there is something cool about them...my 2 cents.

Because no one wants to be the guy who brings a mini 14 to your friends sks bush party, especially if you run out of ammo.

I bought one because it was a cheap way to get in the game as a young new shooter. Then I bought ten as currency when its the EOTWAWKI.

I’d strongly beg to differ. Never had, nor never wanted one of those things.

You’ve never come across a couple a redneck types with their lifted 94 f150, Luke Bryan cranked on the radio and a couple of “good ol boys” usually donning a real tree/plaid ensemble shooting off their tapco SKS’s and their dads old Winchester into a fridge, dishwasher, beer keg etc? (Note that I did not specify what because when you ask it’s always “my dads old Winchester” like that’s supposed to narrow it down.)

Sounds like every second range trip to the bush in Petawawa.....####ing unreal. And that's exactly the description....except it was never a 94 because that would imply they actually knew how to work on and keep a vehicle running...it's always been mint off the sales floor lifted douche trucks lol

I personally love the SKS. I have a mint Chinese one I put a set of Tech Peep Sights on and an LOP extender grip pad.
With a really patient and precise home trigger job to recut the sear and polish it all up it's my favorite shooter and they are plenty accurate with slight modifications.

Well, I was going to say ( IMHO)it does pretty much the same thing as a $700-$800 AR at 1/4 the price, ( what I paid) and still cheaper ammo. But now that the AR has dropped to $500 and maybe lower, then that arguement may be Moot but it is still a great dependable rifle with a very good round and it is NR ( so far) which is obviously a huge plus as most NR semi's go for a premium, even though they don't do much more than the old sks. I will keep the ones I have but at the recent prices I will leave them to the folks who don't have one. Oh yea, the bayo on the sks would be an additional option on any of the AR or non restricted rigs!
