The Battlegrounds of the 2019 Election

Say he wins by 25,000 votes this time. They view that as "losing ground" even if they retain power. They'll try to understand why, in the long-game. Their objective isn't to serve Canadians; their objective is to retain power. Serving Canadians to that end is just a byproduct of the quest for power.

Say for the sake of argument that only half the PAL holders in the country voted in the last election, but every single PAL holder votes this time around. That's a million more (mostly conservative) votes. Do you think that won't go unnoticed in the LPCs strategy sessions? It may not swing an election but it sure as hell will sway LPC policy.

Whatever, just stay home. If you put half the effort into voting that you put into explaining your reasons not to...

Like I said. just turn your guns in now. You don't deserve them. They're just going to take them anyway, right? Nothing you can do about it so don't bother trying.

Like I said you clearly don't understand how the electoral system is set up in canada. Ont and Que will decide it for the rest of us

Loser mentality. Enjoy. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In a free country, people have the right to park their lazy asses at home, forfeiting their vote and continue whining online like little #####es. It’s why good men lost their lives fighting, isn’t it?

No shortage of that type of mentality in this community. I’m guessing many of those people complaining about gun orgs not doing enough aren’t dishing out a cent for membership.

Not to derail too much but this forum has more than a fair share of whiners. For a bunch of alleged free-market conservatives there's sure a sense of entitlement and gift-horse-mouth-looking floating around. Even when something's free it's not free enough, or if there's a fundraiser contest with, say, a .223 gun as the prize someone's going to pipe up with "well if it was creedmore I'd buy a ticket..." or someone designs a shirt but 20 guys gripe because it's not the colour they want.

it's like an episode of The View, except EVERYBODY is Joy Behar.

Same dynamic as why Oregon and Washington get run roughshod over by Portland and Seattle down here, 60% (unreturned ballots) just sit on their hands and expect 16% (Republican/pro-gun ballots) to somehow overcome 24% (major-metropolis Demofascist Progdouches... the major-city political machines invariably have very high turnout, largely through manufactured ballots, "ballot harvesting" and other shady if not outright Election Fraud practices.)

You have a number of us down here praying that you manage to pull a rabbit out of the hat like we did, my friends.

If voting PPC . And we managed to get EVERY gun owner in Canada to do so they would end up with maybe 5 seats . The greens got 605000 + votes in 2015 and ended up with 1 seat . The PPC needs time to get established . Max was my choice for leader of the Conservatives but for a newly formed party to have any hope of breaking into the top two spots he would need a lot more than 2.2 million votes . How ever 2.2 million members of the Conservatives writing their Mp and every other Conservative Mp in Canada on a weekly basis in regards to scrapping the firearms act and revamping it to make sense and be less of a cluster F... might do some good . Vote as you wish but in this election a split on the conservative side will be disastrous for gun owners. No matter what your affiliation! Write your MP, Write your party, and tell them it is time to stand up for law abiding Canadians!

Strategic VOTING is what I call it. The PPC is set-up to split the conservative voters, that will "ASSURE" a Liberal win again. That means the Liberals can implement their gun ban and more stricter gun control measures. C-71 is already law and the Libs are just waiting for them to get in with another majority so that they can do the OIC on the other elements of C-71. I'm guessing full semi-auto ban and NZ style buy back (aka confiscation). If the PPC voters like it this way, then ALL of us legal gun owners will suffer the wrath of the Liberals on gun control. To get Sheer in will give us a 4 year breather before another election. Then if the PPC will gain more traction and have a very good chance of winning the 2023 elections then we legal gun owners can consider them.

Yup. the PPC is JT's dream come true.

I'm in King Vaughan, and the CPC instead of running the guy that almost beat the Liberal who had an organization in place and had been working hard for the since the last election chose to run a no-name with no political experience other than a far distant loss in a municipal election. WTF?
The previous candidate understood the gun issue as he had come from the former Soviet Union.
The current candidate thinks there should be even tighter control, and that frm a CPC candidate. Un-####ing believable.

I guess the PPC are looking better and better... at least here in King-Vaughan!

The battle will be after the election. Regardless who wins and what the seat count is; urban fear of guns will continue to increase. Count on it. We now live in a Canada that is mostly urban and global in demographics. Even a massive effort to stop illegal guns will never get them all, and it only takes one incident to set off the anti-gun movement. The MUCH more important issue is how to improve legal firearms ownership and make legal firearms owners the leaders of public safety, not the scapegoats. That old "cold-dead-fingers" just makes the majority of Canadians more fearful and committed to the elimination of guns in our country. We as responsible firearms owners need to address the very REAL fear that exists in the minds of most urban citizens, Dismiss their feelings and we can hand in our guns like the Kiwi's

YES, I have a solution. I have three.

(1) Do and spend whatever is needed to make Federal and Provincial regulators and gun-owners partners in responsible ownership. Massive grants and incentives to open more ranges. make gun clubs attractive, and improve working relationships with regulators. The first scrutiny of someone who should NOT own a gun happens at gun ranges and clubs. (2) Sensible and more fitting classification of firearms that reflect the intended use of the firearm. High Capacity, pump-action, double barrel shotguns with door-breach chokes scare people and have no recreational or competitive use. Gun retailers will ( with respect) promote whatever products they legally can nd are not our best legislators or thought -leaders for common sense rules. Let's be reasonable if we expect reason. And no high-capacity magazines ever for semi-automatics! Bill Ruger Sr. was right! People are not scared of guns, they are scared of banana clips.
(3) The creation of a new "Competitor" licence classification that streamlines the ownership. storage and transport of special purpose "military style" firearms. These shooters should be the MOST trusted and most highly security cleared of all firearms owners, primarily for the purpose of competition. . Special training and certification. Let them own hi-cap mags and 12-6 even. BUT, it comes with accountability and privilege. Anyone who skips the long security lines at the airport by showing their NEXUS card knows what I cam talking about. We as responsible firearms owners will have a lot of work to do after October 21. The reality is that NO political party can ever again form a government in Canada without the support of urban voters. Them the facts! Conservatives that like to keep things the way they were, will fade into history. Liberals who cater to only Central Canada city-folk will split this country.
I will end my sermon as a Canadian. With a joke. "Why did the Canadian cross the road?.................................................................................................................................( To get to the middle.)

Look into the PPC platform. Withdrawal from the UN, withdrawal from the Paris climate agreement, flat tax etc. It is interesting and a breath of fresh air. Not pandering to every little group while ignoring the majority. I just don't believe the CPC will do anything they promise, based on their previous track record.

lol, extremist nonsense. Withdraw from the UN? Never going to happen. Flat tax? Doesn't work.

Don't throw your vote away. If the CPC does only one thing, it'll be to scrap C-71. That should be reason enough for any gun owner.

What's with the hate for Ont/Quebec. They have the most seats because they have the most people. Honestly, it's like some of you guys don't want a democracy?

I'm all for freedoms and protecting our hobby, but I'm completely against forcing an ideology on the unwilling. You can't always get what you want, but you can sure as #### fight for it, every step of the way.

That's why we love canada, eh?
