And therein lies the rub, for all the tiny improvements in consistency, BC, etc it’s pretty hard to truly beat a straight .270 Winchester and being able to feed it off the shelf of any hardware store.I run ballistic circles and always end up back there.
My first deer rifle was a Remington 760 Gamemaster in 270 that my father bought for me one Christmas. First Deere I hit with it I #### through the neck, it dropped on the spot. I was very young at the time, but was always impressed with the accuracy and results of that cartridge. I was never a fan of the rifle, per se, but did like the cartridge. And there is something to be said for the ready availability of the cartridge. Just got 284 stuck in my head now though, Andy having a hard time getting it out. I have come across a Browning Micro Medallion in 284. Real light gun, around 6.5 lbs. A fellow I know has it. Anyone have any experience with the Micro Medallions?
