Brenneke Black Magic???

I have searched years for Brenneke slugs in Canada. The only two available in Canada .... and that I am aware of are ...

a.) Rio Royal Brenneke Slug
b.) RWS Rottweil Brenneke Classic

They show up from time to time at some dealers ....

What are you intending to use those slugs for?? There are good to better alternatives on the Canadian market .... depending what you want to shoot .... and at what distance ...

I too have searched for the Brenneke slugs to no avail. I even contacted the current distributor and they don,t stock them. However I find that after some research that Rottweil Exact slugs are a very close comparison. I havent tried them yet, but picked them up for bear defense. From what I read about them they will do the job quite well. I picked mine up at Accuracy Plus in Peterborough, which has them in stock most of the time.

Around here they sometimes (every other year or so) show up in the Spring, for obvious reasons, and are gone in a week or two. They're the best solution, but not the only solution. I'd check for gun shops in Grizzly country in the early Spring.

Be aware that the Royal Rios and some of the other Brenneke inspired slugs are composed of soft lead and can be underwhelming when it comes to penetration.

Interesting!

I had to check out the LightField IDS after your suggestion assuming it was a sabot slug. I was un aware of such a sabot slug on the market not just capable but designed to be compatible for smooth and rifled barrel slug shooting.

"Commander IDS Plus 3″ 12 ga.

EDITED BELOW after my 1st comment above.

The Lightfield IDS Commander Plus was designed as a high velocity, extremely stable, extended range Sabot Slug for use in modern rifled barrel and smooth bore shotguns. There is not another slug round on the market like it. The IDS 3″ Commander incorporates a 1 3/8 oz (600 grain) 73 caliber slug producing 3850 ft/lbs at the barrel and an insane 1324 ft/lbs @ 150 yards. TKO= 107!! The patented IDS design incorporates an impact-discarding Sabot that aids stability in the wind and produces a controlled expansion slug for deeper penetration for larger big game animals."

Interesting!

EDIT

RE READ.

I got all excited it is defiantly just a sabot slug designed for rifled barrels only and of course it will out perform a smooth bore foster (I would hope! LOL) so I initially read the description wrong.
