Let's see some pic's of your SxS's & O/U's

Well it's been a couple months since the last update of the progress of the Remington 1894 BE restock and restoration. This evening we have some pics of almost the last thing that needed doing. The forend! The barrels have been off getting refinished in the classic black and white finish that was standard for Damascus. About all that is left is to put it all back together. But in the mean time, here's the progress of the forend.

I like this series of pics because you can see the way Chris approaches the chequering. And how it turned out.

And the final piece of the restoration puzzle. The barrels!

While Chris has been working away on the wood, the barrels have been off getting their own makeover. Dents removed, muzzle put back to round, minor external pitting stuck off and then a proper finish. This is a tedious and difficult job, doing Damascus refinishing, and can be subject sudden catastrophe. Here are some shots of the barrels in progress and then three of the finished item.

All that's left now is to get all the various pieces back in the same workshop and for Chris to put it all back together. And make sure it works! ;)

Well, the Remington Restoration saga is coming to an end. This Model 1894 Grade BE manufactured in 1907 is almost all done and is now back in my hands. If it doesn't rain tomorrow it's likely shots will be fired with intent to destroy....clays! Right now, the gun is choked IM/IM and given this gun will be used more for clays than in the field, I may want them a little more open. But that will be decided over the next few months. In the mean time, here is the finished product thanks to Chris Dawe, Oskar Kob and Christian and his team at Lemieux Armuries. BTW, the Damascus barrel refinisher wishes to remain anonymous.

Oh, and having been dragged to over 20 Marvel movies in the last 10 years by my son, I decided to include an Easter Egg.

WOW, that's a nice shotgun. Now I see why you guys invest in these old guns.

Thanks. BTW, this gun, including purchase price, a custom built stock and forend, extensive and detailed hand cut chequering as well as refurbishment of the mechanics and all finishes, will have cost me roughly 2/3 of the cost of a new Savage Fox, built in America by CSMC. Easy decision for me.

Sounds like a great deal, James. I would have estimated between 10,000 & 15,000 cdn. And we can have this all done right here in Canada!!
