30-06 How many is too many?

One for this guy. I don’t believe in excess and I only use one at a time. When I’ve got two of something or am considering buying another of something I already own I evaluate each and decide which is better. The one that’s “not” the best goes down the road. When it comes to evaluating a rifle there are many metrics that have to be evaluated to decide which is best but once it’s decided I’m never going to use “second best” so it gets sold. My ‘06 is a kimber 84l with a 2.5-8x36 vx3 and shoots a 168 ttsx at 3k FPS. It’s kicked all of my 270, .308 and 300 mags out of my safe.

Used to think like that too, get the best you can afford and be done with it...
Then you get older and somewhat emotionally attach to some gun(s). Whether it's hunting memories, a gun you got from a good friend/family member, or just a itch you have to scratch.

How many .30-06's?

.... More than one ;)

NAA.

Only one at the moment is a Ruger M77 MKII Express... but over the years I have owned dozens... should not have sold my Browning B-78 Octagon 26", beautiful rifle and very accurate... one of many dumb firearms-related decisions.

I have 2 at present... 760 gamemaster, and a M700 SS in B&C mountain Ti stock...been eyeing up a Mark III BAR. :)

I don't think there is a to many number.

The 06 is so boring, because it will do everything. I am down to one, a Ruger ultralight with a 20' pencil barrel, wearing a 1-4x Leupold, shoots 220 Rn's MOA no issues, no excitement, just boring.

Not everyone does it this way — one reason is that it can tie up a lot of money — but many go through these steps to owning the best rifles:

(1) accumulate: acquire those that pique interest or have a good reputation
(2) shoot: study and compare characteristics
(3) cull (edit): sell those deemed flawed or imperfect

One might temporarily have lots of rifles in stages 1 and 2; and less after stage 3.

I don’t even have one at the moment.
I have had 3 over the years.

All my rifles fill a purpose now.
Years ago I shot all the time and owned “play” guns

Now I hunt way more then I target shoot.
So if a gun don’t have a use. Off it goes.

My 375ruger caused a lot of guns to get sold.
It just dose everything.
