So got my new AR but I have no idea how to give it a basic lube before hitting the range so whats the best method?

After use and cleaning again whats the best method?

Thanks

I was wondering the same thing actually. I've also heard Froglube was quite good. But I've also heard that ballistol is fine for everything....

I would not recommend froglube, I found out when it dries out it turns orange and looks similar to rust.

Currently using whatever CanAm ships in the unmarked grey bottle lol. I believe it’s G96.

There are a ton of great videos on youtube detailing cleaning/lubrication.

Frog lube is garbage, it turns to waxy glue at cold temperatures. That, and the application procedure is an overly time consuming ritual.....the only thing worse is trying to get it off once you've realized it's NFG. I've used ballistiol (love the smell) but also gets a bit gummy when cold. If you only shoot in warm temperatures.......either of these will likely work fine.

During the RCMP's evaluation of cold weather lubes, the lab performing the testing recommended 4 products: Eezox, G96, FP-10 and TW25B.

All of that said, I use synthetic ATF for 95% of all of the cleaning/lubrication I need.....and my workbench is no longer cluttered with 40 different 4oz bottles and aerosol cans. :)

ATF is hard to beat but that being said G96 is convenient and smells and works great.
I have a big jug of Military CLP but don’t really like the residue it leaves behind

I use the mixed mystery oil from the filling station drip tray at work. It's new, clean oil just a mixture of the different weights that drip from the spouts and funnels. I don't buy gun lube anymore.
