Buy a leupold they said it will be great they said.

Leupold optics fail, just like virtually every other optic company out there. I've had to send 6 or more Leupold scopes to Korth over the years. Thankfully they are usually pretty quick to fix and return. Just got 2 scopes back from them last month.

Most people don't shoot much, so they make all sorts of outrageous claims about Leupold never failing, but that's because they don't shoot more than 100 rounds in a year. I have Leupold success stories and failure stories. One Leupold 6-20 target model has endured about 2500 rounds of 50 BMG. The ones that failed and I just got back last month were mounted on .223 and .308.

Vortex higher end optics seem to be just as reliable as Leupold, from my experiences.

Other than a Leupold sent out for service, I have Nikon, Bushnell and Zeiss optics. They all endured shooting hundreds (some thousands) of rounds, excessive moisture, temps below -40 C, dust, bumps & drops.... not one had to go for service. (knock on wood!)

I've bought the Leupold (entry level model) because I wanted something light and the lenses where quite clear although there is noticeable distortion towards the edge starting at 4-5x magnification which I've discovered only after using it shooting aa few times. Among the Nikon and Bushnell in the same price class the Leupold has the mushiest elevation/windage adjustment and IMO the glass itself isn't any better for light gathering at dusk/dawn than the competitors.

The Leupold also has the least features (e.g. even doesn't have resetable adjustments). Again, it's light and that was a big buying point for me at the time. Would I do it again after what I've learned about Leupold products in the last couple month? Certainly not!

I always wince a little when I read people putting down companies like vortex by saying such and such company doesn't have a lifetime warranty because they don't need one.

Difference is vortex threads are a weekly occurrence here. I had every single vortex scope crap out on me.

I have a VX-6HD 1-6 that the illumination doesn't work right on. It will be going back in the winter once I don't need it for a while. People act like Leupold is the almighty god of the optics world but in my experience they put out s#!t just like any other company. Only difference is that Leupold's s#!t costs more.

Yep.

Leupold is top notch and my 15 year old Bushnell Dust to Dawn 3-9x40
I do not like Vortex most dealers push them because they make $$ on them
Send your scope to Korth and it will be returned in a week - hopefully you didn't buy a fake Leupold scope (just saying)

If you are planning for a Sept elk hunt Id call Korth and let them know and they may work with you to have the optic in your hand before then. If its a November hunt....you will definitely be fine. The 1 time I ever sent in a Leupold scope and it was an old Vari-X1...it took about 2 weeks and Im sure I wasnt high on their priority list.
I have the VX6 3-18-50 Firedot and its a real gem, you will enjoy once you get it fixed. Ive never had an issue with mine.

Photograph the serial number of the scope and photograph packaging for your records before you send it in. Send via tracked parcel (signature required). Let them know where you bought it from and give an explanation why you find the scope needs service.

The "service" provider here in Canada claims "turnaround is usually 5 days". Good Luck!

Black Bear fall season here starts in 11. days from today. I would like to have my scope back in very good working condition before that.

Vortex hasn't been around long enough to make that claim.

I've sent 2 scopes to Korth, both were returned in under 3 weeks. 1st scope had over 8000 rounds of 308 before it failed. (When I was younger I could afford the time to go to the range 2-3x per week). I could tell you stories about other scopes from other manufacturers that have failed from the start but that doesn't solve your problem. It happens, unfortunately. If new, I think the store should replace it. If not, I've had good experience with Korth.

That doesn't make much sense.

If you take Brand X that has been in business for 100 years, and Brand Y that has been in business 15 years, mount them on similar rifles and Brand X fails after 5000 rounds but Brand Y lasts 10 000 rounds, who cares how long they have been in business?
