Winchester / Western Trap & Skeet Parts

Hmmm ... Just goes to show that you can learn something new every day. I guess I thought Beomat was out of business because nobody around here talks about them anymore or has shown any interest in buying one. I see they are listed on the Lawry website. I also saw an item on the QRP website that talks about Beomat since 2009, so, perhaps there was a reorganization at that time. I understand that the GMV machines were a copy of the Beomats. I found an active website for the GMV machines that list a European phone number and QRP in Ohio as their only dealer. Shyda's Services in PA show the GMV machines as "no longer available", perhaps that means that they no longer sell them.

We have a GMV machine that we bought used and worked very well for us for some time. It became unreliable and we replaced it with a Pat trap. I think that we can get it up and running again and it did throw great doubles targets.

But, again, I am not aware of anyone buying a dedicated trap machine other than a Pat trap in southern Ontario.

Max is looking to replace the 2 WW Skeet machines. He already replaced the Trap machine with an Atlas. Max's Club is small with one Skeet field with almost no registered shooting going on. With that in mind, Beomats are just too expensive for the need. Promatic, Laporte and MEC are all better options in this case.

I have an Atlas Patriot that I have been using for years. Good little machine and well made. The new machines, AT 300/400 etc. are excellent throwers and will run with the best. I still stand by my previous comment that MEC deserves a very close look.

We bought three used GMV machines for a great price. We use two of them for skeet, with one as a spare. One motor failed on one, and we have not been able to find a replacement in over a year. The Beomat machines are very similar, but the motor in question is different, so a Beomat won't work. Just something to keep in mind for anyone considering a used GMV.

I'm pretty sure that we have a motor problem on ours ... it has just been sitting there as we do not have a current use for it. Is there not someone in your area that can overhaul an electric motor? Did you check with Shyda's and QRP in the US for a motor?

Yes - As above, there are shops that rebuild electric motors. For a single phase motor, the culprit is often one of the capacitors (start or run). If so, the fix is cheap...

We had to replace a capacitor on our Beomat motors, cheap and simple fix.

We had one motor rewound, but were told the other one is beyond repair. QRP has been trying to get us another motor for over a year.

Get the NEMA number off the motor tag and email your local Motion Industries, they will be able to source.

There is no problem finding a motor that matches electrically, and that fits the C- flange, but the stator casting has special bosses in it that are drilled and tapped for mounting feet. If that wasn't an issue, the Beimat motors would work.

What does the C flange mount to? If its to a fairly rigid housing, you can probably do without the feet...

The C flange ties the motor to the actuator/gearbox, the feet hold the entire assembly from turning. I am looking at building a clamp to hold the motor to the base if we can't get a proper motor. You can see the plate at the front that the motor feet bolt to.

We have a SuperStar (Doubles) and an old 274 (Singles only). Repairs were complicated but doable. Both work great machines and threw good targets. The SuperStar needed both motors replaced. QRP told us they were waiting on a supplier so we had them rebuilt locally. Wasn't cheap. Motor rebuilds and a new electromagnetic clutch was $2000 - that was in 2016. Got them running again and they've been our spare machines. Haven't used them since. We've switched out to Pat Traps.
