Back about 50 years ago the 6.5 was wildcatted in many forms and the 6.5x300 Wby was about the 'hottest'... and it probably still is...

6 lug so it can’t be too fat. Rebated rim sounds like a 6.5-284 stretched to ‘06 length. Awesome. Would be mean in an 84L kimber.

It will be a commercial flop... they will sell a few to Weatherby fanboys and speed demons, everyone else will still be chewing on their Creedmoor gum until it loses its flavour.

I suppose Congrats to WBY are in order, for finally dropping the silly shoulder and superfluous belts on modern cartridges. Other than that, this new 6.5-06 style cartridge (along with their 6.5-300WBY) just shows us once again that WBY is at the top of the list of gun makers that don't give the people what they want. WBY seems to want a new generation to buy into their "nothing shoots flatter/hits harder/more accurate" marketing BS like grandpa did, but grandpa didn't have the internet. Laugh2

Grandpa didn't have the internet and reloading manuals with tons of data
Weatherby fan boyz get their poop in a knot when they get told that..
Some how they think their Weatherby is a laser beam

Out to 400 yards, conventional hunting ranges, wbys are indeed lazerbeams. 8" low at 400 and no higher than 3" along the way makes it so you can point and shoot big game out to 400 without having to worry about bullet drop. Not a bad thing at all. Other cartridges can obviously also do this.

Nothing makes grown men whimper like little girls more than a new cartridge.
Haters going to hate.

Goes to show that the wrong powders will make for apples and oranges

The 220 Weatherby Rocket had neither the venturi shoulder nor a belt.

We have a 224 Weatherby, belted, double radius shoulder, 26 "semi-heavy sporter barrel, LNIB, never fired. We've have been offered a small fortune for it, but refused. We love the Weatherby Mark V's and their cartridges, they never failed us.
