Yeah, I was expecting the worse for felt recoil... but a 1911 shotting regular 230gr factory ammo feels more unpleasant to me than shooting these nuclear 10mm loadings. I was really really surprised by this, again though I don't know if the 21# spring is helping? Either way, I love shooting it.
I basically worked up from 8.0gr to 9.6gr in .2 increments - I'd check the brass and primer each after each set. My plan was to stop at 9.6gr, but I did load Five 9.8gr loads and then ten 10grain loadings just incase I felt comfortable trying them and no overpressure signs showed. COL is 32mm and I'm using CCI 350 primers.
It must be the quality of the Storm Lake barrel because there was no case buldge or flattened primers at the 10gr level, at least nothing different than what I was seeing at 8gr.
The only thing I did notice was that the physical damage to the brass was worse due to the faster/harder ejection the higher the pressure got. (had some really good dings/dents on the 10gr cases)
Good point though, the 10gr of 800x behind a 200gr bullet is definitely not a load to start at
Definitely not something for a factory barrel (well, Glock barrels anyway).
I basically wanted to make sure that if I target 9.6gr using my Lee setup, given that there are variances (I've found up to .2gr +/-) I wasn't going to get into trouble.
I am also using new brass and would not be using brass I was unsure about at these higher levels.
But yeah, felt recoil was amazingly low. To be honest I was a little disappointed

, but happy at the same time if that makes sense.
P.S. I found the 9.6gr to be the most accurate for me

(forgot to mention that)
