what is the best 10mm auto

I really like my Dan Wesson Commander sized 10mm. Regards, Richard:D

Ones that are in current production would be good.
In that case, you don't have all that much choice. If you want a 1911, it's either Kimber or Dan Wesson. However, it is rumored that Colt will be reintroducing the Delta Elite in the near future. If you don't want a 1911, your only options are EAA Witness (cheaper and stronger than a 1911, but not as refined) and Glock 20. Personally, while I like 1911s, I'd go for Glock or EAA if I wanted a 10mm.

I own a S&W 1006(out of production).....built like a tank, very reliable, reasonable accurate, only drawback is poor trigger and ergonomics could have been a little better. There is one for sale right now in EE for $750.;)

I also have a EAA Witness which is also built like a tank, has better ergonomics than the S&W Gen III pistols, better trigger and seems to be more accurate for me. It is however not as reliable. I have gotten mine to cycle reasonable accurate but it still has odd FTF with hot loads...

If I were to get another one I would look into another Tanfoglio(makes EAA for USA distrib). But I would spend more and get one of their Match Models.

Freedom Ventures is distributor for Tanfoglio's here in Canada.

Here is Tanfoglio's site...

Other's seem to be fond of the Kimbers in 10mm and Dan Wessons as well...

You probably cannot go wrong with Tanfoglio, Kimber or Dan Wesson.

I have a Delta, Glock, Tanfoglio, Bren Ten and Smith 1026 in 10mm

I gotta say if it's not the glock then find a used Smith.....

New, Get yourself a Tanfoglio from Freedom Ventures

If money is no object send me a PM and I'll hook you up with a Bren Ten (not mine but someone elses:) )

I have a Colt Delta Elite, Glock 20 with an extended 5" KKM barrel and I just ordered a KKM 40 S&W barrel for it, 18.5" T/C Contender carbine and last but not least a brand new Glock 29 with a 4.25" Storm Lake barrel with an extra Storm Lake 4.25" 40 S&W barrel.

If I were to only have one gun it would be the extended barreled Glock 29 with Pearce grip extensions and spare G20 mag's with the spacer on the mag's to give the full grip of the G20 when I want it.

This would work perfectly for my ATC carry and when CCW carrying when I'm in the States.

I've owned a couple of Colt Delta's and a S&W 1066 with nite sites. Right now I only have one Delta. I'd go for a Glock but the 10mm/.45 frame Glocks don't fit me well.

You Prick!!!! LOL

Standard model? Please post pics!:)

I couldnt get one her in Canada cause you won't sell it to me:( I did get one in Atlanta though and have it at my place in Ft. Lauderdale it's my new CCW gun in FLA so i won't be importing it to Canada....

but if you ever want to get rid of one of yours....or the mags:) let me know:puke:

+1 on the Glock 29!

I've got a Glock 29 with 4.2" Storm Lake barrel; this past week I went through 50rnds of HOT Handloads which were a pleasure to shoot. The Glock 29 soaks up the recoil.

FYI: I was shooting 200gr Hornady XTP bullets behind 10gr's of 800-X (Brand new Winchester brass). Plenty of energy and ooomph to get the most from the 10mm Auto; recoil was negligible. My pistol does have a Wolff 21# spring mind you, so I am sure that helps.

NOTE: Some pistols may not handle this MAX load!

10gr of 800X....:eek::rockOn:

You should put a safety notice on that load as some pistols may not handle that MAX load...

I usually max-out at 9.6 gr of 800X with 200gr XTP's.

I am VERY surprised that you find them pleasant and mild to shoot because I find 9.6gr out of FullSize Witness or 1006 to have fairly stout recoil.

That would make one dandy bush-carry load for your ATC.

Yeah, I was expecting the worse for felt recoil... but a 1911 shotting regular 230gr factory ammo feels more unpleasant to me than shooting these nuclear 10mm loadings. I was really really surprised by this, again though I don't know if the 21# spring is helping? Either way, I love shooting it.

I basically worked up from 8.0gr to 9.6gr in .2 increments - I'd check the brass and primer each after each set. My plan was to stop at 9.6gr, but I did load Five 9.8gr loads and then ten 10grain loadings just incase I felt comfortable trying them and no overpressure signs showed. COL is 32mm and I'm using CCI 350 primers.
It must be the quality of the Storm Lake barrel because there was no case buldge or flattened primers at the 10gr level, at least nothing different than what I was seeing at 8gr.

The only thing I did notice was that the physical damage to the brass was worse due to the faster/harder ejection the higher the pressure got. (had some really good dings/dents on the 10gr cases)

Good point though, the 10gr of 800x behind a 200gr bullet is definitely not a load to start at :)
Definitely not something for a factory barrel (well, Glock barrels anyway).

I basically wanted to make sure that if I target 9.6gr using my Lee setup, given that there are variances (I've found up to .2gr +/-) I wasn't going to get into trouble.

I am also using new brass and would not be using brass I was unsure about at these higher levels.

But yeah, felt recoil was amazingly low. To be honest I was a little disappointed ;), but happy at the same time if that makes sense.

P.S. I found the 9.6gr to be the most accurate for me ;) (forgot to mention that)
