Do any of you have direct experience actually ordering a rifle from the Custom shop? If so, can you briefly describe the experience?

Rob , last time I was at shotshow 2014, I talked to the fellows from Dakota Arms, and was told Remington was leaving them alone to build there rifles, and operation would not change at that time.
All I know is , they do excellent work, if they are doing all of Remington's custom gun work now?

How to buy from the Custom Shop?

1. Contact a Remington Direct Dealer (PM us for one in your area if needed) Reliable in Vancouver Elwood Epps in Ontario.....

2. Tell them you are interested in a custom shop firearm

3. They will ask you to provide all the details you want: Barrel length, caliber, stock, action work, blueprinted, sights, rails, muzzle brakes, engraving, wood grade, Cerakote color etc.

4. They will send us the request and we will provide a quote from ROC which has to be signed by the dealer.

5. A 20% deposit my be required by the dealer.

6. ROC Custom orders are not able to be cancelled once the process is started.

No I have not any direct Remington Custom Shop Experience, but I did shoot my Kimber Super America yesterday ...

Nice rifles. I came close to buying one in 308, hesitated and missed it. One in 35 Remington would be cool.

Douglas had a few of those IIRC. I think one in 350 Remington magnum would be pretty awesome.

There were a pair of them in south Edmonton cabelas for probably a year or more - eventually they did sell, and they are very nice rifles. Not $3000+ nice, but nice all the same.

I always thought that Ruger should have a longer/slimmer forend on their full stock rifle, much like the 20" one on the Remington.

It would be a big improvement over the short, chubby one currently offered.
