MSAR STG-556 Any News?

The first 1,500 AUG's are limited edition and will be going for $1,900. After that, they'll be going for $1,600. That's not bad considering original Steyr AUG's are now going in the 4-6K price range. They only imported 3,000 or so by the time importing them became illegal in 98, thanks to Clinton( and those numbers include the USR). I talked with one of the MSAR guys the other day. He said the only thing they're waiting on right now are the barrels from Wilson's. They're 3 months late. Besides that, the rifles are ready to go.

Did the RCMP get a sample of this sweeeeeet little toy? If so what's their word on it ? If not what the f**k is MSAR waiting for? Hell, I'll buy the sample they send to the mounties!!

Questar said they will do it if someone wants to shell out the $$$$ as the sacrifical goat. Personally I have no money.

Where is strangeday when we need him ? A quick look at my visa account learned me I may have spoken a bit quick. :(

Sounds good to me :)

Questar should be able to hook you up :)

I am drooling on the thought of an OD version with 20" barrel....not as light as the TAVOR but for those who grow up on Die Hard, it is part of the childhood thing!!!

well if you got questar to bring one in and rcmp said prohib questar WOULD have the option of exporting it back to the us where it could be resold to recoup your $$$

total cost of a prohib ruleing might only be $500.-600.

id do it but ive got big $$ tied up on another gun rcmp have....

I've always wanted an Aug. It's been a favourite rifle of mine for a very long time.

I'd want to see accuracy tests with this rifle. Before buyng one.

That being said right in the quick time advertisement, they state it's an Aug derivative with some modifications.

Since it's based on the Aug design internallly as well as outside, you can pretty much count on it being classified as prohibited. :(

If it was classified as non-restricted I'd sign up for one in a heart beat. Definately over the Israeli Tavor.

Comprehensive reading 101.

A derivative is NOT a variant!! A variant is a variation of a design. A derivative is one that derives certain characteristics from an orginal. If a derviative is a variant, then everything on this planet will be prohib because technically everything is a derivative of another .

Just because the internals share the same characteristics, it is not automatically a variant. Otherwise, the AR180B should be prohib too, since it has the same internal as the original AR180. Obviously, that is, for good logical reason and according to the wording of the regulation, it has no bearing on the classification

Tell the Mounted One's......................

Ok

This has me thinking that this would be a good group buy for the members here. We get one imported and spread the cost so to speak, and see how it goes at reasonable risk. There has to be five or ten members that would be in on this...

I sure hope that rifle doesn't become prohibited, but I'm not holding my breath. My other concern will be the price. I've noticed in Canada a $1000 rifle costs about $1700. At a US base price of $1600, I think the cost will be over my head.

My main concern is it's a derivative of the Aug. Sure it doesn't mean it's a variation but I guess we'll find out how similiar it really is. If it's too close that will screw us over. Plus the fact that frankly it looks like an Aug might make it harder.

If the PE-90 looked like an Ak there might have been some problems. The only reason the CZ that looks like an AK gets by is because the internals are different and proven not to be a variation or derivative of the AK.

Our firearms classifications are pretty strange in this country.
