Agreed! I’ve told all my non-gun owning friends and family that if they can’t vote CPC, to vote Green or NDP. We have to split that left vote!
For clarity,
Canadian law authorizes the use force, up to and including lethal force, to defend yourself against an attack. People who use excessive force are often charged with murder and or manslaughter. People tend to only get charged with storage violations when the use of force was legit and you can't get pinned for anything else.e.
True enough but if juries find you not guilty of eg. Attempted Murder because you defended yourself or your love one you will get a pass on Careless use of a Firearm, Discharging a Firearm within the city. Sat on a jury that did just that.
A wife defended her husband with a shotgun. She shot an intruders arm off with a Mossberg 12 gauge shotgun. Both were dealing in drugs. The latter, we were told, should not affect our decision. It didn't. The Judge explained the Law to us including a very clear explanation of the "Castle Principle". To this day I believe the Judge would have declared a mistrial had we come to any other decision than Not Guilty on all charges. There were two other firearm related charges. circa 1968.

Id rather an open carry policy. That way you know the guy youre about to mingle with has a 44 mag on his hip and IMHO is going to put a lot of things to rest before they even pop off. Pun intended....
Also going to take away unnecessary law enforcement aggression if they can clearly see youre strapped rather than jumping to conclusions thinking youre strapped CC when youre not...or mistaking a print for a gun when its just your cell phone clip on your belt under your shirt...

I hate to point out the obvious but who do you think the "Bad Guys" are going to shoot first. One with Open Carry or one who appears unarmed? Just saying. In your alternate universe, you would be living in, the Police would be the least of your worries. Of ,my friends in the US, when they have a choice they all prefer CC over Open Carry - re-read the first sentence in this reply

Who do you think is going to get jacked, the guy who appears unarmed or the guy clearly strapped?
Getting jacked I think is more of a reason to even carry a gun... to avoid petty stuff. Youre probably 50/50 if the bad guy just wants to show up and start popping off on random civillians.
But, in the real world, I do think any type of carry is mostly founded on as you say alternate universe... I dont think I've ever been in a situation where modern society has me thinking I need to be strapped to leave my house... clearly its different in the states...people have some sort of paranoia goin on down there.[/QUOTE
I don't think it's paranoia, but people with some smarts saying that if I gotta take care of this myself and my family then so be it instead of waiting 10-20 minutes for the cops to show up. Lots of s... can happen in 10-20 minutes.

Hey just looking at folks who think they need to armed ie folks I know in the US who carry every day. The 2nd scenario they seem to be concerned about is the following: Report armed individual just shot somebody and you are standing there open carrying when the cops show up. Could be a bad day.
Lived in four major cities in Canada and another six smaller cities/towns and have never concerned myself about not being armed. Just my Universe, others may live in another version of reality.
Dumb topic and I have replied a couple of times on it. I gotta go have a drink....real slow day today.

Snowing up there yet, Bob?
Nope but there is a chill in the air. No snow here until Nov/Dec. at the earliest. I am trying to figure out where the hell the heat went from the sun....out next match October 6th. Has it stopped raining down there?
