so i have a few more parts for the 500 jeffery build, still waiting on the reamer to show it but it should be soon. it was ordered it on July 30th. the barrel is a 50bmg barrel im going to cut to 24" and turn a sporter contour on it. the 500 jeffery already fits in the action length wise so i just need to open up the feed rails. im just going to use the cut down sporter stock. it has that old work horse feel. between that and the heaviness of the action and the p17/m17 dogleg bolt handle. you can really grab on to it and cycle the action. it wont be the typical p14 sporter though. thats a 308 next to the 500j
i also ended up doing another project while waiting for the 500 reamer to get here and also waiting until i get around to blueing the 460 weatherby barrel and putting sights on it and installing a 375hh bottom metal
its built on a mauser modelo 1907 receiver (large ring small shank, long shank, odd receiver), its chambered in 43 Express (11.3x62mm)
it has a 71/84 mauser barrel on it, cutting the thread 0.010" deeper allowed it to thread in and clock correctly
i modified the chamber to fit a belted case, turns out the 375hh case family can be trimmed to 62mm and ran through 43m dies and will chamber with the belt counter bore is cut into the chamber setting head space and getting rid of the rim and helping with feeding issues
the factory mag on the rifle holds 3 rounds and cycles them flawlessly i had to open up the bolt face and feel rails though
once the reamer gets here ill do some work on the 500J and i hope soon i get around to getting some sights and bluing the 460 barrel
