Big bore rifle build

so i have a few more parts for the 500 jeffery build, still waiting on the reamer to show it but it should be soon. it was ordered it on July 30th. the barrel is a 50bmg barrel im going to cut to 24" and turn a sporter contour on it. the 500 jeffery already fits in the action length wise so i just need to open up the feed rails. im just going to use the cut down sporter stock. it has that old work horse feel. between that and the heaviness of the action and the p17/m17 dogleg bolt handle. you can really grab on to it and cycle the action. it wont be the typical p14 sporter though. thats a 308 next to the 500j

i also ended up doing another project while waiting for the 500 reamer to get here and also waiting until i get around to blueing the 460 weatherby barrel and putting sights on it and installing a 375hh bottom metal

its built on a mauser modelo 1907 receiver (large ring small shank, long shank, odd receiver), its chambered in 43 Express (11.3x62mm)

it has a 71/84 mauser barrel on it, cutting the thread 0.010" deeper allowed it to thread in and clock correctly
i modified the chamber to fit a belted case, turns out the 375hh case family can be trimmed to 62mm and ran through 43m dies and will chamber with the belt counter bore is cut into the chamber setting head space and getting rid of the rim and helping with feeding issues
the factory mag on the rifle holds 3 rounds and cycles them flawlessly i had to open up the bolt face and feel rails though

once the reamer gets here ill do some work on the 500J and i hope soon i get around to getting some sights and bluing the 460 barrel

Thanks. In pleased with how it turned out..and the bolt handle matches the receiver knox very well. I wouldnt mind a nicer stock for it but im not sure if im going to go looking for one.. it fits me well and feels good to shoulder.

The case and load development are being posted in the relaoding section.

I need to put sights on the 43 express rifle so i may get into that this weekend at the same time ill do the 460wm barrel.

^^ nice, thanks for the heads up on the dies. Ive found them at brownells for 200usd plus fees and shipping. Ill check out tradeex.

Also what did you pay a box? I ordered a box, told it was 260$ for 20 rounds. After it was ordered in it was knocked down to 245$ a box BUT only a 10 round box. So i was a little upset but i paid for them as the store owner didnt want to soak up the cost, i didnt want to make him either. (His supplier didnt list round count and the 460wm was the same 260 $ and it was a 20 round box) And i still wanted loaded ammo. So i bought them.
Costly though lol after tax they were 28.30$ each.

I paid $11 a round. They probably gave me a deal.

They aren’t the typical 7/8” die, I think they are 1”.

Thanks, ill be looking at tradeex from now on lol. And yeah i saw that they are larger die bodies. Ill have to adapt one of my quick change die holders for my lee classic turret press for them.
