I do not think you get the point. I am sure the people at RCMP know better to look below the surface. Do not guess. There is no guessing. It has been clearly demonstrated using factual evidence that the MSAR 556 has nothing to do with AUG.
If the MSAR 556 is prohib because it is an AUG, then the Swiss arms should be prohib too. Look has nothing to do with it. It issthe "linkage by heritage" if you still do not get it. In your universe, the swiss arms should be prohib becasue it used the AK bolt design....the AR180 should be restricted because it uses the same mult-lug locking as the AR15.
The fact that you talk about the VZ58 and AK in the same sentence really shows that you don't have enough command on this subject. "Look" has nothing to do with classification. It is not about "look", never about "LOOK". People think "look" is the main factor because they do not comprehend the wording of the regulation and try to blame the RCMP for their ignorance. Of course, RCMP makes mistakes too even they are in general quite on top fo things - then people just go in frustration instead of using logical and proper interpretation to support their arguement.

I sure hope that rifle doesn't become prohibited, but I'm not holding my breath. My other concern will be the price. I've noticed in Canada a $1000 rifle costs about $1700. At a US base price of $1600, I think the cost will be over my head.
My main concern is it's a derivative of the Aug. Sure it doesn't mean it's a variation but I guess we'll find out how similiar it really is. If it's too close that will screw us over. Plus the fact that frankly it looks like an Aug might make it harder.
If the PE-90 looked like an Ak there might have been some problems. The only reason the CZ that looks like an AK gets by is because the internals are different and proven not to be a variation or derivative of the AK.
Our firearms classifications are pretty strange in this country.
