For the CHAS 3-gun matches (Genesee) you just need to register. But, do so quick as they fill up super fast. If you get into the CHAS 3-gun facebook group you'll get the best information.
Last year I shot my M305 (since been sold) at some CHAS matches. I would strongly encourage you to get some 10rnd XCR-M magazines and use those. I found it very helpful to have 3-d printed mag extensions as well. The short XCR-M mags don't fit well in magpouches.
This year CHAS has a Heavy Metal Pro division, but only a couple of us are shooting it. It would be great to see more participating in this division. As a plus, you only need on round on target with Heavy Metal. I've joked that Heavy Metal should be able to shoot through cover without penalty (7.62x51 has been turning cover into concealment since the '50s).
Speaking from experience, get shell caddies and learn how to dual-load and/or quad load. The shotgun stages can make or break a match, depending on the round count.
Also, the guys at CHAS 3-gun are great for letting you borrow equipment and giving good advice. Don't be afraid to show up to a match as a spectator and ask questions.
Copy that Colin. I'll be using the M305a though - fires x39 and uses AK mags
Haha yes. I'm interested in that as well. Would love to bring the Garand
Yup working on the shell caddie thing - other styles should be at my house soon for when I get home
And you bet - that's good. Same as me - love helping shooters out. I just ordered molle pistol mag holders to go on my chest rig and free up space for the shotgun shells , but I do t think will be here on time for Nov 2 .... well speaking of which I should register.
Thanks all
