Black badge course yay or ???

75 a year renewal seems silly to me. Plus kinda the whole thing. Been drawing loaded handguns out of holsters now for like 13 years .....
But will probably seek out and acquire my BB

No one mentioned this part about the Black Badge Certification program; Through it - you get certified to compete and shoot IPSC. Then you maintain your certification by shooting the sport.

There are over 4000 current certified IPSC Shooters in Canada now, every one of them proved to the rest of the lot that they were safe while participating in the sport.
That's what the BB is asking of it's participants - show us - show me - that when you come to the match that I'm at - you're going to be safe.

...are the common sense safe gun handling skills everybody should instinctively have...

You'd think that - but in my 30 years of being involved in BB certifications, I've seen plenty that didn't when they arrived on day 1.

I’ve been told yes by a number of clubs.

Yes, if the Alberta instructor clears it with the Ontario section in advance.
So long as there's a reasonable reason you're taking it outside your home province - it shouldn't be a problem.

Before anyone asks -
A good reason is you're living temporarily in another province.
A bad reason would be you failed in your home province due to being a danger and were told IPSC isn't for you and you're trying to go around that.
