Browning A-bolt

Manual says bolt won't open on safe. Is it supposed to lift? just not slide back? Not Familiar with Brownings.

I think it locks the bolt down... but try it and see... you have the gun...

The bolt is locked down when on safe. There may also be a small red tang visible at the back of the bolt on the bottom,there is on mine. If its visible it means that the gun has a round in the chamber .

The A-Bolt has a two position safety that prevents the bolt from being lifted when engaged.

Yes I do have the rifle, But on safe the gun won't fire(good thing). The thing is the bolt will rotate up but not open. Manual say "not open on safe". Herein lies the question? Seems weird the bolt rotates, but it does stay closed. Just looking for an A-Bolt owner to confirm this.

Take the metal out of the stock and examine how the safety works and how what is supposed to lock the bolt down functions... and go from there...

A-Bolt I, II or III ???

I have three A-Bolt I (Medallions) and with each, when SAFETY is in the "ON" / "SAFE" position, the bolt handle is locked down.....
