Recently bought a used Norinco NP 29 that had very little use on it. The seller advised me that it had some extraction issues, and I figured it was probably just an issue with the extractor tension. So I finally got to try the gun out today and it was very apparent that there was something seriously wrong with the extractor . It was constant FTE and double feeds. I got the gun home and checked online on how to check the tension on the extractor. I followed the advice on the Wilson Combat and the RECOILTV YouTube channels on how to check and adjust the tension. When I checked the fit and tension using both a snapcap and empty casing I could see that the extractor was no where near to touching and holding the round. The amount of space almost makes me think that the extractor was meant for a 45ACP cartridge.
I then tried to adjust the tension, as suggested by the two videos mentioned above, and no amount of bending seemed to do the trick. I had even bent the extractor to the point that I could barely fit it back into its channel.
I've owned a few Norinco 1911's in 45acp and never had this issues. This is my first Norc 1911 in 9mm. Just looking at the extractor from the perspective of how it would sit in the gun it doesn't even look straight. So I'm thinking it's completely out of spec and I'll have to replace it.
But has anyone else had the same or similar experience with their NP29? If so how were you able to fix it.
Cheers
