No nazi auction

Yes, good call! I agree with banning auctions or freedom. There can't be any good persons who would willingly participate in collecting real historical memorabilia. Nazi history has no place in this world, not even to collect VALID historical pieces.

Maybe people should stop using Maynards auction, and then public pressure will cause them to go out of business.
Its seems companies are way to eager to cave in to anyone's demands when confronted.

From the picture in the first news story, someone must not like firefighters. BTW, that same helmet is available cash at International Military Antiques (non sponsor) for about the same list price.

Along the same lines , the prison camp tours in Poland and Germany should also be closed and bulldozed. No need to remember and teach about those horror stories. Forget about that part of history completely.
That would make it so much easier to repeat the horrors in another 100 years or so. Or sooner. Ya know rinse twice and repeat !

That was my exact reaction when I heard it on the radio yesterday. These are historical artifacts, and belong in the hands of legitimate collectors.

Erasing and forgetting history only dooms the next generations to repeat it. Cancel culture needs to stop, history is very interesting and should be shared. Not all stories are good one and learning can be done from both the good and the bad.

There has not been a significant bloodletting/sacrifice in 75 years. This year at our Legion we celebrated D day +75, and have Battle of the Atlantic, and Battle of Britain open houses. For a few free hotdogs and hamburgers, cadets and public get museum tours etc.

Meanwhile, snowflakes want to tear down monuments and statues....colonial, patriarchy...etc. Ivy league colleges debate whether white men should cut their wrists or set themselves on fire.

I'm having none of it.

Going to get this quote wrong.

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Thomas Jefferson

The tree of liberty must be enriched(?) periodically by the blood of Patriots and Tyrants.

AMEN!

I'm sure if they dug a bit and looked at the people who protested this, they don't go to these types of auctions. So how did the auction house win here? Idiots. All of them.

What I find interesting about the difference between now and while growing up is when I was younger and some piece of German WW2 memorabilia came up those that survived the camps or the combat would tell you a story about that time. Either a personal story or what happened to someone they knew etc. They usually would handle the piece and then give it back to you when they were done. They never screeched the object should be banned. It seems to me that many of the people I see wanting to ban everything or censor it never experienced the kind of conditions these pieces of history should be warning us about.

I would venture to quess.. That the people doing the protesting are not the ones to put their lives on the line to protect rights and freedoms..

Apparently the Jewish community was a large part of getting the items pulled.

We got over having 'Emo Rage' about the Romans and other historical forces with far longer and worse track records........

Those Romans....whoa!......those dudes really got 'genocidal' when angry......what happened when they got mad was not for people with weak stomachs.

But.

People got over it. Nobody is throwing statues out of museums any where.

What is going on now is simply political social guerilla tactics.

Using history and heritage to leverage power and control.

The historical issues are only handy ammunition like rocks found at the side of the road you can throw.

These people have neither shame nor decency and cannot be dealt with or responded to without considering that words in the context of history or culture or objectivity of any kind will be useless.

If you read the articles, you'd see that one of the people specifically said these artifacts should be donated to museums so they can be put in the correct context, So they understand the historical significance of them they just don't want private citizens to have them (which obviously has its own issues).
