Uninvited hunters.

I just had a half ton drive down my drive ,through my yard past my house, into the back yard and weave through the snow fences and across my fields. No idea who they were but were not invited here for any reason. I'm a hunter and a property owner. It really pisses me off when such disrespect is shown. I followed them for a bit but they took off when they spotted me. Please people respect other peoples property. Hunting and trespassing don't mix.

Install camera on the drive so you can provide evidence or a gate so they can't just drive on through. I live at a dead end so trespass is common if the gate is open, people think my driveway is a road otherwise

From what Ive been reading on rural crime out west I'd be wary of confronting anyone who's potentially armed and would avoid it if possible. Fences, gates and signage could go a long way in prevention, and a force equalizer would be on my mind. Legally speaking this is after you've contacted the police of course if it gets to that point

A driveway monitor that works for up to a mile is available on Amazon for less than $100.00
I never ceases to amaze me how many people lack simple "courtesy" and show willingness to trespass. Filing a police report is a must and the advice above a solid start.

You know, upp'ear we have gated driveways and our property is fenced all the way around.
There is/was a Mexican credit card holder making laps thru the community.
I set up a bunch of solar powered mowshun lights, but I think the biggest deeterint is the
bigg'un casa dew le chien awn the frunt porch.
Keeps them unfriendleezs look'in in but cawshus bout enter'in.

A neighbour of mine is a retired policeman and he told me the biggest deterrent to keep people off your property is a gate. no one wants to walk down a driveway when they can drive. it's a pain to keep opening and closing one but it will keep people out. be careful because there is a few messed up people walking the face of this earth . we the hunters and shooters are being punished due to their actions . what they did would piss me off . could have been teenagers trying to push your buttons also . see if you can pick up a trail cam for cheap and conceal it at the end of your driveway . get them going and coming .

I had the same issue with ATV's coming down my lane. I put up a no trespassing sign, and "beware of large dogs and psychotic owner". Put a Ducks Unlimited sticker in the corner of the sign, to be suggestive. Haven't had any issues since putting them up several years back.

How did you know they had a phobia involving ducks?

Has nothing to do with a duck phobia. But suggests I am a duck hunter, and duck hunters have guns, and generally know how to use them, especially psychotic ones. It would be deemed in poor taste and draw undo attention to ones self to put up a sign that states, "Trespassers will be shot on sight". Best to be slightly "suggestive" and let folks draw their own conclusions.

Saw a truck driving around on an unharvested wheat field the other day. The fellow I was with knew who it was and was going to have a word with him. Geez.

What damage was done?

Constant problem for my cousin, his 1800 acres is scattered all over and mostly not fenced, 1/2 leased. His main problem is with kids and atvs, particularly after seeding. It is a farming community but a major citiot invasion the last 20 plus years as a close proximity to Montreal. Farm kids would know better. He controls the hunting aspect by granting permission to certain people, they have a specific parking place when on property and they police the other hunters for him. Still trespassing problems but usually not hunting related.

What does it matter if damage was done? No permission asked or given = no go

Only problem we have out west is the people who are trespassing and armed seem to have more rights than the landowner once police are involved. "Force equalizer" is not a good idea, rcmp are more likely to lock up the landowner for escalating the situation by being armed on their own property than the trespassers who are equally armed claiming ignorance of the trespassing.

Police take a long time to show up when called to rural properties , they know they can't count on their own backup arriving quickly if it gets serious

Hell, we had a situation at our work site, a few years back.

A truck driver pulled in off the hwy, came running in claiming there was a guy in the back of his rig, had a gun. Crazy story.
The RCMP were called immediately. They did not show for 90 minutes! And we are 20 minutes from town (RCMP station).

It turns out the truck driver was screwed up somehow, drugs? Mental issues, not sure.

But police response!? Not there.
