Valmet : Where in God's name are they all hiding

What are you looking at building it into? RK62/AKM ?

It's been an ongoing project for years, but just never have time to finish it. I've decided it's probably going to be on the EE in the near future. With the parts I have mounted, it can be used as what a Valmet Hunter always should have been as-is with the addition of the trigger guard. Additionally I was planning to have the muzzle threaded for the flash hider, and with the Galil stock and furniture it would make a pretty decent Galil clone. Would be easy enough to alternate between the two formats :)

How much of a pain was it to get the dustcover mounted ? Thats the part I'm dreading, like to the point where Im considering getting a gunsmith to do that part for me

The Galil receiver cover? No fitting required. The parts that will require a gunsmith are mounting the handguard retainers, threading the barrel, and fabricating a removable filler block for the slanted part at the rear of the receiver when the Galil stock is mounted.

Noted! Thanks for that. I cant wait for November 20th lol

Sweet gun! You don't have a spare stock bolt you could sell me, do you? Or even know the thread? I need one for my M78... don't ask....

it was M8 0.75 pitch on my stamped m78. My hunters _do not_ use the same thread on the machined receivers.

I think I have a _short_ bolt I had made to use with a stock adapter. Shoot me a pm if you want it.

x2 on EE right now, a .223 and the venerable, real deal AK 7.62x39 caliber.

Not meaning to distract, but if 200 .223s were imported then maybe <50 7.62x39s in the country.

While not my cup of tea, I just saw some valmets listed on wolverines site showing in stock while browsing for other stuff, in case anyone was still looking for one

Lever Arms sold all the Valmet models ,as he imported them direct. They were reason price wise for what you got.
When the original restricts and probition's were introduced , the list was copied from the import probition made up by
the ATF in America. They didn't want any more foreign assault rifles imported, Canada took the list and restricted some
and prohibited other's and went around collecting them up!
That's when the guns of various manufacturer's disappeared. The Valmet Hunter was ok, but the Norinco direct copy wasn't!
Reason, the Norinco was on the ATF list and the Valmet wasn't
