I don't have a full length pic at the moment, but here are a few. Possibly two in Canada, and two known in the US.

Beautiful! Yours??

Yep. Mine. Bought it through my dealer licence in 1991, from Century. No idea what I had until a few years ago when I posted a pic of the barrel on the Southern California Mosin Owners forum. Others were posting pics of the barrels on their various M91's, so I rooted through my pile and came up with this one. Boy, did that ever cause a commotion! One fellow finally had the decency to pm me and ask if I knew what I had. When I told him I guessed I didn't, he sent me a write-up about the SAT barrel.

Shortly after that, one changed hands in the US for $12,500. Several knowledgeable collectors thought that was actually about 1/2 its value.

This is by far rarest production Mosin Nagant ever with only couple hundred ever made and very very few that survived, thus only 4 that are known in North America. Sako’s very first attempt at making their own barrels. You, sir are a very lucky man.Thank you for this privilege, kjohn!

KJOHN actually let me HOLD that lovely, super-rare rifle.

I am rather amazed that the poor thing didn't rust from all the drool I must have left on it!

Says a lot for the quality of the steel in that barrel!

That one on Gunbroker is some kind of abortion with a Mauser action and a SAT barrel. Interesting.

That's a neat one, commercial sporterization of one of the early Finnish cavalry carbines. Could be one of the first Sako sporting guns?

I hope you were kidding when you posted that!! f:P:

That poor thing is a bubba abortion of the highest degree. The only thing worse in my experience was a guy carrying around a poor old 94 Winchester that had welded on sights, plus he told me he had heat treated it three times. It looked like it.

There are SAT barrels for Mausers too, I completely agree its been bubba'd however it could have started life as something a bit more... noble.

I would love to see some documentation or history or anything regarding SAT barrels for Mausers.

Edit: Seriously, I would like to know more!

After much thought and consulting all the sources I've read, I think I spoke out of turn there. I can't find a reference for you sadly.
You have a lovely rifle by the way, thanks for sharing!

That would be sweet. :) I cleaned out many years of fouling from my 91/30 hex receiver'd rifle and happily found that it shoots well with hardcast 180 gr boolits sized
to .311". Good luck with the wee beasty. These rifles deserve some plinkin' time. ;)

80 yd group.
