The GSG 16 modification thread

Nice, Jay!

We’re building the exact same gun, minus the Holosun sight.

Where are you guys getting the CYMA stock from? I can’t find it in-stock online anywhere except really sketchy looking foreign airsoft websites. I’ve checked EBay too, no luck.

###y.

Heading out to the range tmr. Video will be posted here and in the dlask sub forum.

Plan of attack is rapid fire of 4 mags

Ordered a GSG-522 kit off eBay back in October, just got notice from CBSA that it's been seized with a description of "Prohibited Weapon". I'm going to file an appeal, not sure what info to include. Anyone else run into this?

Wow. Funny, I see junkies and homeless people wrecked on fentanyl all over the place. You gotta wonder how many shipments of Chinese chemicals get through because CBSA is busy with pieces of plastic.

I bought my conversion kit off of eBay as well. No problems getting through, in fact CBSA was happy to assess the shipment for their cut. I'd start with asking them where the weapon is, because the only thing in the box are unregulated plastic accessories! Provide a copy of the GSG-16 NR FRT and your PAL.

The fact that they issued a seizure notice and didn't attempt a controlled delivery and put you in handcuffs proves they know damn well you weren't attempting to import a prohibited weapon...

There a copy of the frt on irungun section. Someone at Cbsa isnt up to speed on the changes of the ati gsg 16.

I know Numrich wouldn't sell me the trigger housing. I don't think it has nothing at CBSA not knowing its a GSG 16. I think its has to do with new laws. This was posted by IRUN about the parts kit.

The parts in this kit are licensed under the USML and therefore controlled under the ITAR. Foreign end users are now prohibited from purchasing USML regulated or controlled items directly from the U.S without the use of a cross border agent who is registered and authorized in the export of Defense Products, like IRUNGUNS.

This change in Export Reform also effects commercial entities in other countries including Canada from purchasing USML controlled Defense Products directly from a United States Manufacturer or retailer unless that company is either authorized in the export of Defense Products by the DDTC or the foreign end user contracts the service of IRUNGUNS or a company like ours to mitigate the transaction.

The seizure of the parts kit from ebay, has nothing to do with FRT, or the GSG 16. It has to do with violation of ITAR. See the above post.

No. Incorrect. CBSA does not enforce US export law. In fact they gave the reason "prohibited weapon"...

If the poster makes a good enough case they will get their parts. Nothing about those parts is illegal under current Canadian law and CBSA does not enforce US law.

2X.

I wonder if it's worth the time for that low amount.

Submitting an appeal can be done online so I'm only out the time it takes me to write up a good response. I'm not concerned about the value of the kit, but rather that I don't want CBSA having it on file that they think I attempted to import a prohibited firearm when the kit doesn't contain a firearm at all.

makes sense to clarify its not a "prohibited weapon" or not FOR a "prohibited weapon".

Pulled the trigger and ordered my gsg-16 yesterday!!!

I’ve seen a few slings in the pictures. What set up working?

Alright guys ... what rear sights are you guys using with your GSG 5 conversion kits?

It doesn’t look like airsoft rear diopter sights will bolt up properly (as discussed).

Wal-Mart greeter has something in the works. I am sure he will have something for us this winter. In the mean time I took a stock rear sight and lowered it. I drilled a new hole above the original for the bolt Then removed the lower portion. This allowed the rear sight to be installed lower to match up with the lower front sight assembly on the conversion. If you don't do this and use the stock rear sight as is you will be over the berm.

Cheers
