Afternoon, for the last decade been out of the precision rifle game and been busy hunting. I custom built exactly this rifle ten years ago before the barreled action was a factory option, and I’m rebuilding it as it was my most fun precision rifle due to the modest weight and size.

Now I’m out of touch with the current field of optics, ten years ago I used mostly Mark 4s and one each S&B & IOR. I’d like a somewhat lighter weight, extreme elevation optic and I’d prefer a Leupold option as I get a healthy pro discount on one scope a year and it’s a new year. I don’t need huge magnification and would rather focus on a smaller optic to keep it easy to carry, handle, and shoot offhand here and there. As for magnification we do lots of 1000 yard with M14s and NM sights- 6x seems really good in comparison long as there’s a load of elevation adjustment.

FFP with a TMR or other milling style reticle is a must as I enjoy unknown range shots and measuring targets, most of the game we play at the airstrip at work. So what’s out there now with a 30mm tube (largest rings for CZ527), extreme elevation adjustment (I don’t want to deal with bases on top of the flat / zero MOA integral mounts on the 527). I would consider a 34mm Mark 6 and reaming rings, as I love how compact some of the models are for the elevation offered. Max objective would be 50mm with the ring height.

Thoughts? They’re appreciated.

If you're ok with reaming your rings to 34mm, ream them to 35mm instead and get a Mk5 3.6-18x44 with the illuminated TMR (or a CCH if you like Xmas tree reticles). It's relatively light for it's mag range at 28oz and although I've yet to use one (I plan on getting one) I have 2 of the slightly bigger 5-25s (both with CCH) that track perfectly, hold zero and have had zero issues in a combined 10k rounds.

Thanks Dave appreciate that, I actually didn’t know it was a 35mm tube on the Mark 6, thought it was a 34 and hadn’t read the fine print, first thing I’ve learned. I’m tempted by the option if the Warne rings have enough meat to go 35mm. Haven’t tried a CCH yet, I probably should.

Check out the scopes from March. Impeccable glass, wide magnification range, great reticles, compact and lightweight compared to most.

No sweat man. The Mk6 actually is 34mm (and about 5oz lighter than the Mk5 which is 35mm). They're pretty much the same scope other than those differences and the Mk6 being $500USD more at msrp. Cch is nice if you like a "tree" reticle, it's thinner than something like an H59 as well, so not as much of the target gets obscured.

Sounds like a great gun. I’ve been hunting with a semi auto Grendel this year and took two blacktails. It’s a great deer cartridge.
I liked my semi so much I just ordered a cz527 American rustic to play with.
I’m putting a 3-15 vortex pst gen two on mine at first. Should do the trick. Let us know how your rifle shoots when it’s all together

She’s coming together, ended up buying a Mark 4 1.5-5x20, will start there and see if I want more magnification / weight. Got ahold of 500 Berger 130gr Hybrids, she should cruise to 1,300 yards before going subsonic, looking forward to giving her a workout.

I like that a lot. I may have to buy the heavy barrel version next. I started loading the 130 hybrids and 129 accubond long range. Just need to run them through the chrony to find a consistent velocity. Using ar-comp for powder

I'd have a hard look at the NX8 for that rifle. A little more power than the Leup and 30 Mils elevation you'd likely have 15 Mils after zeroing. My Applied ballistics tells me you'd be dialing to 1200 yards with those rough numbers.
