Red dot for a rimfire

What would be the best way to mount a red dot on a Savage Mark II or a Savage Model 93 rimfire rifle? I wouldn't mind trying out a red dot for fun since I just do casual shooting with these guns at the present time.

Get an EGW rail for the Savage - you just need to confirm the dimensions to get the right one. Replaces the two piece scope mounts with a solid rail.

Thank you for the information! I will research the right size and order the EGW rail for both Savages. Much appreciated

Good input here thanks

what is the best mounting location for a reflex or tube?
forward scope base holes? or something further forward on the barrel?

Grooved for tip off ?

Yes the 795 has the grooves in the top of the receiver. That scope will look really big sitting on a 795 though. I would agree with others who suggested the trs25, they're quite small and would be a better fit aesthetically.

I bought a cheap red dot for my 795 but ended up getting tech sights before I ever used the red dot.

I use a trs 25 as well.
Only thing I wish it had is a on/off button. I rabbit hunt mostly(with beagles)and don't like to leave scopes on. Im always turning the dial, probably should just leave it on....still using the same battery after 3 years.

I have one of these.. they work well and are quite bright. The different reticles are nice to have.

The bushnell TRS 25 is a good budget option but for a little more you could get something with a lifetime warranty, a used Vortex or Burris comes with the same lifetime no receipt warranty which your son might get some use ot of down the road....

I'm at that point too with the kids 22lr rifle. Might have to order a TRS25.

Any other suggestion for optics like in post #33 ? I'm looking for reflex sight style more than a tube

My Buckmark reflex has been in service for 5 years, still going strong. In the gopher patch, and plinking. Pretty good value. When or if it dies, I will get another.

I have 3 TRS25 and love them. One on a 9mm carbine, one on a gsg16 and one on a Typhoon. For the $120, they solid. Can probably find cheaper on sale.
